@YogiRunner: She's getting a 6 hour stretch at the beginning of the night! We put her down at 7:30, dreamfeed at 9:30, then awake to nurse again between 2 and 3. She'll sometimes wake up again to eat at 6 but usually just sleeps through until 8.

I wasn't sure CIO was going to work for us but we were going on 2 months of no sleep (sleep regression started at 3.5 months for us) and had tried everything else. I figured it couldn't hurt to try and it went much smoother than I expected. I know it's not for everyone but I'd say it's worth a shot!

@YogiRunner: I have not noticed any long term bad habits from sleep regressions- like I will nurse back to sleep even when I know baby isn't that hungry just to get more sleep for me, and after the sleep regression they go back to normal. I always worry about it becoming a habit but so far it's been ok.

Sleep regressions suck. I'm so tired of being tired.

@csross217: Good to know! How long of a stretch does Baby E get these days? I'd like to try a light CIO but this child screeeeams bloody murder so 5 minutes is super tough. But worth a shot.

@catomd00: You're making me feel better about nursing a lot to get him back down... it's quicker than fighting with him to take the paci and calm down for an hour. At this point I need more sleep to be a better mom!

Also I have an appointment this afternoon with the pedi about his cough... I'll see what advice they have while I'm there. I hope it's not what's waking him up. Poor bugger.

I just do what I have to do to maximize sleep. For us, it's cosleeping with her basically latched on all night. I don't worry about bad habits. My first never formed any and is a fine sleeper despite never doing any training. They all sleep eventually.

The 4 month sleep regression is the worst! Baby E is just starting to get better at 5.5 months. What worked for us was to put her in her own room and do a mild version of CIO. I knew she wasn't really hungry when she woke up every hour, so instead of rushing to her we let her fuss for up to 5 minutes before going in. She almost always put herself back to sleep in a minute or two. After just a few days of doing that she now only wakes up once or twice at night to nurse!

LO turned 5 months this week, and for the past month, has become a progressively worse night sleeper. He's now up every 1-2 hours, screaming his head off. Sometimes he'll take his paci back, most of the time he's just inconsolable unless offered a boob. Daytime naps are actually getting better - going from 30-45 to 90 minutes.

I know sleep regressions are normal, but I just have no idea how to save my own sleep/sanity while not creating bad habits down the road.

On top of that, his little cough that the doctor brushed off twice is getting worse. He's had it for 2 months. So I keep picking up the phone to call the doctor then second guessing whether it's necessary and hanging up while on the wait line for the nurse.

All commiseration and advice is welcomed :meh:
