Our LO's first wedding will be at 10-11 months. I just went to a wedding where there were babies (about age 1) and they did great, but I know that has no effect on any other babies. The parents didn't really do anything special except hold them. I guess it depends on the child though!

FWIW I totally don't get the big deal about babies at weddings, especially outdoor ones where there's no echo. To be honest I'm not really even stressed about it...though I'm sure I'll be stressed later, it's still almost a year away!

@Coco Bee: I think having someone come get your LO from the wedding is a great idea. He'll make his appearance, but still get his nap.

@chopsuey119: if he was 3 months old, it would be different. He wasn't as affected by lack of sleep. But at 6 months old, it makes or breaks his day. He will be MISERABLE if he doesn't get his naps.

@regberadaisy: yeah I think she would... but I think it's better for her to be bummer he's leaving than to have a baby crying thru her whole reception lol!!

1 day of not napping should be okay. When Lo was 3 months old we took her to dh's family reunion.
Our first day ( travel day) Lo was up for 8 hours straight without a nap. I was so stressed, but she survived!
Lo didn't sleep as much as she usually does when we visited family last week too. Again, I was bitchy, headachey, stressed.. But she was fine and is back on schedule.
I'm trying not to be so crazy about her sleep, because babies are resilient! But I know how tough it can be.
I would just go with the flow and try not to worry too much!

@Coco Bee: that's not crazy at all! Although if it were me I would be so bummed my nephew had to leave early. But st that age it's not like he'll be rocking it out on the dance floor. :)

ok.. here's an idea... would it be totally crazy to find a sitter to come get him FROM the wedding? Like if he was there for ceremony and maybe a little after? I have a lot of friends over there that would probably watch him.

@mrs. bird: It's a club... I think. definitely more formal reception venue.

@regberadaisy: depends on his morning nap! If he gets a good 1.5 hr morning nap, then he goes down for his afternoon nap about 1:30-2pm. I guess that would be cocktail hour or reception...

@artbee: Food! Good idea... I will pack a lot of it.

@mrs. bird: I highly highly doubt it... that sounds so fun lol!!

@Rubies: maybe...

will there be any babysitting onsite? we had a babysitting room where kids could crash/hangout if they didn't want to be part of the action. actually we had a whole kids buffet & everything =D i kinda wish i was a kid at my wedding! what type of location is the reception at? if it's a hotel, could you just have someone watch him in a room?

We went to my sister's night time wedding which was way passed lo's bed time. And it was passed dinner time and she was flower girl. And like a stupid person I didn't check to see how many puffs we had in the package, which was only five. So I walked her down the aisle, handed her off to my mom since I was the maid of honor and standing up carrying my sisters flowers, and my mom went to feed her puffs when..... she quickly ran out. So she screamed! It was bad.

We ended up keeping her entertained enough through cocktail hour, dinner, and a couple of dances but we had to leave early. My sister understood. It happens when you have a baby.

Is there going to be a bridal suite? Maybe he can nap there during cocktail hour?
What time is his afternoon nap usually?

@Rubies: he is in the wedding! The wedding is also in another state.

I would assume the reception is right after the ceremony. Though I know there is a cocktail hour.

My SIL's wedding is in October, DS will be just over 7 months old. I am starting to worry about how we'll handle naps! It's a day wedding, starting around 11, so it sounds like we MIGHT be able to get in a short morning nap, but afternoon? forget about it... what am I supposed to do? Cobi will be miserable without a nap.

Lately he hasn't napped in the stroller or in the beco. He gets too absorbed in what's going on around him.

Have any of you had to deal with this?
