@winniebee: Any time you have a baby who can flip either way. You want to make sure that they don't get stuck on their belly unable to move!

@Mrs. Jacks: Soooo you need to stop swaddling when baby flips from belly to back or back to belly? Or both? Trying to wean T and he just learned how to do belly to back....

OMG my little girl started sleeping on her side again last night (she did it when she was first born, too). It is freaking me out but I know she can roll from her belly to her back so I shouldn't worry TOO much. We just sat there and stared at the monitor, praying she would fall back instead of forward from that position. She did, thankfully after a while. She's only 3 months!

My LO sleeps on her side or belly. For naps we put her on her back and she rolls to her side, at night we put her on her belly. She has hated sleeping on her back from the very beginning. Since she had very good head and neck control we started putting her on her belly at around 2 months.

Face down, butt up. That's how my LO has been sleeping since about 6 months. It was like a switch flipped one day and she no longer wanted to be on her back.

Sleeping on his tummy is the only way Cam will sleep through the night now at 8 months. He started preferring spending time on his tummy after 6 months, but still slept on his back until the past couple weeks.

LO started flipping over around 4 months. Our ped said there wasn't really anything we could do at that point :) made for several nervous nights though!

@Mrs. Bee: Same with M. We couldn't keep her on her back at that point and knew she could just flip herself if she needed to.

When your baby starts flipping, you should definitely stop swaddling, though :)

I think at 6 months there should be no problem! I mean, I wouldn't set him down like that but when they can roll over they're going to do whatever they want and can get themselves out of a jam if need be.

My LO loves to sleep on his stomach. Once he learned how to roll over, we had to get rid of the swaddle. I was so paranoid the first night and kept trying to get him to sleep on his back. While it was scary at first, my LO prefers to sleep on his stomach.

My newborn automatically rolls to the side when I set him in his crib. In the hospital, they would roll up blankets (I roll two of the cheap Carter's receiving blankets together) and put them on each side of him to keep him on his back while sleeping. Works like a charm. :-)

LO was on her side about 2 hours after she was born in the bassinet at the hospital of her own accord. There is only so much you can do. As long as your LO is unswaddled and can freely move back and forth, I wouldn't stress to much about it. DD has been sleeping on her tummy for over a month now because its where she wanted to be.

Well, someone needs to tell my baby this. He keeps flipping himself over on to his tummy. Is this ok? Should I go flip him onto his back? I did this last night and before I was down the stairs he was back over onto his tummy.... What do I do?
