@Crumbs: thanks, good to know for the future! They didn't have a huge selection where I went. Especially since lo's feet are so big and most kids are walking for awhile and don't needs soft soles by this time..... this was actually the only soft sole shoe they had in her size!

They will probably be the white sandal type shoes from Stride Rite. I figure she won't need shoes until she's one.

@artbee: Soooo cute! Great find!

I found a tons of Robeez type shoes on Ebay. They're leather and soft with cute styles and cost just the fraction of the price.

Search: "leather baby shoes" and a bunch will come up.

FYI, I bought her shoes :) I went to the consignment store.... I just couldn't see myself spending $40 on shoes that she will grow out of so soon. I did go to Stride Rite to get her fitted though so I know that she's in the right size. I'm in LOVE with her new shoes, they have a soft sole and are perfect for her first pair.... for only $4.99!

Our LO's are close in age. She has See Kai Run shoes and while adorable and seemingly comfortable, I don't think they were the right choice (it makes me sad). Since she's still crawling and walking, I think the added reinforcement of the wrap around sole on the toe is very practical in Stride Rite SRT's and Pediped.

I just ordered some Stride Rites from amazon.com. They were cheaper than Stride Rite directly (and there was a 20% on time coupon code for subscribing to amazon's shoe email). They ended up being about $27. Still slightly pricey, but better than $40.

@artbee: having a good consignment store is so handy! The one near us is very picky, so everything is in excellent shape. I just wish there was as much selection for toddlers as infants, but I guess toddlers are rougher on clothes and there is less gifting/ over-buying at that age as well.

@mrstilly: dh and I finally decided to go to the consignment store too. We went to stride rite to get her fitted and shoes are $40. She'll grow out of them in a couple of months and she's not even walking so she won't even get wear out of them. I'm sure the ones at the consignment store wont have much wear either. The one I go to only takes things that are name brand and in good shape.

DS had a pair of robeeze and a pair of Velcro converse sneakers before he was walking but then we got him a pair of soft soled shoes from Target. The Robeeze were good and stayed on well. I got them at purocal second hand store. I couldnt see spending $30 or $40 on a name brand pair of soft soled shoes when he'd outgrow them so fast. I am surfing eBay and Craigslist, as well as checking my local second hand store for shoes for him for the fall.
