My baby (6 months) is getting to this 2-3-4 schedule too.... but I am so confused - how does the feeding fit into all this? We used to feed him before he wakes from his naps, but now with the solids and all I am totally confused.

@Mrs. Yoyo: it was really hard for a couple of weeks after we switched to one nap because we were used to that morning and afternoon break. but then the morning opens up and there's so much you can do. that's when it started getting so much fun.

@Mrs. Bee: I am honestly looking forward to one nap. We've done if a handful of times when he's fought his morning naps and he has taken nice long ones. But I don't think he's ready for it full-time yet since he still goes down so easily in the morning.

@cvbee: that was the age Cobi dropped his "pre-bedtime nap". He would nap 30-60 minutes just to get him to bedtime.

oooh I like this thread! My 3.5 month old LO might be switching to a 2-nap schedule (has done it twice this week, plus a 15 minute non-counting nap). The 2-3-4 schedule makes sense to me.

My LO hates sleeping. No one believes me, but we gave him to a friend last night so we could see a movie. In the 5 hours he was there, he ate a lot, smiled a lot, and slept for 15 minutes.

He is 2 months, so there's not a whole lot of "real" schedule, but it's kind of like this, with 3 or 4 naps:

12-5am sleep
5:30 nap (30 min awake, sleep for 45minor so)
Occassionally I can work in a 7-9am nap (I really hope this becomes regular)
11am nap for 15-30 minutes
3 or 4 or 5, he'll take another 15-30 minute nap or two
then he's up all evening and sometimes will sleep from 8-10, and sometimes he'll be awake that whole time.

So... if he is asleep, I am asleep... and I am learning what I can safely have him "do" so he can be happily awake while I sleep.

DD2 is 13 months like Mrs YoYo's baby and we have a similar schedule, but I don't call it a schedule since she's #2 and honestly just goes with the flow everyday since there's so much going on with her big sis home with us this summer :/

Awake around 8a, morning nap around 11a, afternoon nap around 3p or 4p, bedtime around 8p.

@sandy: we woke him up early from both naps so he would be tired enough for a 7:30 bedtime. He kept being able to stay awake longer and longer between naps so we pushed him to one. If we let him nap too much in the day, he would sleep less at night.

Having a sleepy baby is a good thing!

@Mrs. Bee: she is such a sleepy child...I mainly go off of her sleepy cues (she gets super fussy and when I carry her up to her room she rubs her eyes)...I've tried to push her awake time and she ends up crying if she is too tired.

I'm not sure when the time will come that I will have to wake her early from her naps so she will be tired for bedtime...I think when she starts staying up longer before her bedtime I will start waking her from her 2nd nap early...

Did you start waking Charlie up early from his first nap or just go to 1 nap?

@sandy: wow your lo has very short awake intervals!
@Mrs. Yoyo: At that age we had to wake Charlie up from every nap. Once we pushed him to 1 nap at 15 1/2 months, he got more sleep overall since he took a 3 hour nap.

Haven't set a schedule yet for Skyler but when I do it will be similar to Nicholas' nap schedule. 7:30-8am wake, 10am nap, 2-2:30pm nap, 8-9pm bed time. I'm hoping he'll be a great napper like his big brother which is 2-4 hour naps in the afternoon!

At 13 mos ...

Wake up around 7. Nap around 10. Limit to 45 mins - 1 hour. Next nap is usually around 2:30 - 4. Bedtime around 7:45.

I miss the days when he could do two 90-min naps, but he needs to be up longer now to be tired enough. At Olive's age, he was still doing the two 90-min naps, though, and staying up closer to 3 hours between and maybe a bit more before bed.

We have been on a 2-3-4 schedule forever. He is now 15 months old but I think we have been on this since about 9 months.

7 am- wake
9 am - nap 1
10 am - wake
2 pm - nap (we are at 2 now but we have jumped from 1 to 2)
4 pm - wake
8 pm - bedtime

Olive has been waking up earlier than usual the past couple of days. Here is what her schedule has been like!

7:45 wake up
10:15 nap 1 ( 2 1/2 hrs awake, 1 1/2 hour nap)
2:45 nap 2 (3 hrs awake, wake her up at 4:00)
6:30 bedtime (2 1/2 hrs awake)

We usually wake her up from her second nap every day so that bedtime is the same every night. She's almost 10 months old.

How old is your lo and what is their nap schedule?
