@buffalove: @Rainbow Sprinkles: He used to still wake up at the same time but that might be changing. We put him to bed at 8 last week and he did sleep a little later. The problem is I don't get home from work w/ him until 6 so fitting in a catnap is tough (and daycare won't let him CIO for a late afternoon nap and he always cries before a late afternoon nap). So I remain hopeful that he will just start sleeping longer at night!

@winniebee: I totally get that! 5 am is so early. I would die!
I think I remember you saying that when you put him to bed later he actually wakes up earlier? My first thought would be to throw in an evening cat nap and do a later bedtime and see if he wakes later.
W's bedtime is late....845-9, but upside is that she sleeps until 830.

I'm sure you've tried this, but will he sleep later if you put him to bed later? My dude (5 mo.) goes to bed between 8-8:30 and will generally get up in the 6am hour (although he randomly slept til 7:50am on Saturday....woohoo!). I have to let him have one last catnap in the evening, but it doesnt mess up his night sleep.

@Rainbow Sprinkles: No. He does get cranky if he does not have a third nap (or if his third nap is super short). I'm just being selfish as I don't want to keep getting up so early.

@Mrs. Bee: Thx! I remember you saying this! However, my son is neither a monster napper nor night time sleeper!

here is his sleep schedule all the way through 2 years:

http://www.hellobee.com/2012/01/13/charlies-sleep-evolution/

lately his wake up time is anywhere from 6-9am! it hasn't been consistent for some reason. but usually it's around 7:30am.

charlie was an early riser and would sleep 10 hours at night too -- 7:30-5:30am. But he was also a monster napper. His wake up time slowly inched later. I think by the time he started daycare at 21 months, he was waking up around 7:30. Let me dig up his past schedules....

I'm wondering about this too! I've been recording her naps/night sleep the last couple of days to see if i can find a pattern. If she has naps that total 3 hours, she will sleep for 11.5 hours (wake up at 6:30am). If she has naps that go over 3.5 hours, she will sleep for 10 hours, but then go back down for 1.5 (waking up at 7:30am).

My nonsleeping kid has finally settled on a pretty strong schedule out of the blue. At 20 months old he takes one nap from 11 am - 12:30 pm and then goes to bed at 8 pm and wakes once at night to nurse and then wakes up at 7:00 or 7:30 am.

I don't have an answer, but my LO is the same way. She hardly ever naps though, and will sleep a max of 11 hours at night, but even that is rare. Last night was only 8 hours because we're swaddle weaning. Ughhhhh!

HAHAHA - I would love to know this too!

W wakes up once a night still. The past two nights, she slept from 7pm - 4am (which is SO much better than her waking at 1am!!!), and she'll go back to sleep until we wake her at 7.

If your baby sleeps 10 hours or used to.....did that change to them sleeping more overnight? When?

My son only ever sleeps 10 (mayyyybe on occasion 11) hours overnight. When he goes without a feeding at night it's 10 hours on the button. I'm wondering (hoping) if this will ever change. 7 p.m. bedtime works, but 5 a.m. wakes suck. He takes about 3 hours worth of naps during the day. He's just never slept more than 13-14 hours in a 24 hour period. He's almost 8 mos.
