My son was like that until we found out he had reflux too. The ped put him on reflux meds and gas drops and eventually became a much better sleeper and napper. Does your LO spit up alot?

First off, M is NOT a good napper period. She has been like that since day 1. It takes FOREVER to get her down for a nap and for the night. I used to start the "routine" around 7pm and she won't go down till 11pm! That part is fine it's the fussing and crying that was hard. Thankfully she has gotten less fussy and cries much less now. I don't know if it's just getting "older" or it's that I'm more conscious about not eating gassy foods or eliminate milk/dairy from my diet.

Even now at 8weeks though she hardly naps. We're lucky if we get 1 hour nap out of her.

But regardless at her 6th week the crying did come back for a few days.

My LO needs to be rocked to sleep, even swaddled; but will stay asleep for a good stretch between 4-6 hours at night. I haven't tried not swaddling him and I don't want to find out just yet. My 3 yo also cried when set down as well until I sleep trained him around 5.5 months. He's been an awesome sleeper ever since. Hope you and your LO find some kind of relief soon!

yes we had this problem so we ended up putting baby to sleep on her belly but i know not everyone is comfortable with that. We also had luck with this Snugabunny sleeper from fisherprice. It makes her feel cosy like she is being held and its easy to move from room to room.

My LO is 4 weeks and hates being put down, especially during the day. She'll fall asleep in my arms, I'll put her down, and she's up 5 minutes later. Very frustrating b/c I can't get anything done. I've found that using the Boba wrap puts her to sleep almost immediately though, so I can actually get some stuff done.

I totally can relate and you must be at your wit's end. My son was like that until we suspected he had a mild form of reflux. We held him up for 30 mins after feedings and switched his formula and now he's much better.

My son still doesn't sleep ant 1 year old. For the first 4 months he slept exclusively in our arms or his swing. Once we sorted out his tummy issues (he would scream 12 hours straight every day). We started to put him in his crib. At this point he starts each night in his bed but ends it in ours. Working full time I can't have as much disturbed sleep so this works for us.

My daughter was the same way and would only sleep after nursing...And would only sleep in the exact position that she fell asleep...Any attempt to move her would result in a scream-fest. It was really bad. When she was 3.5 months we threw in the towel and sleep-trained. Mind you, though, that LO was colicky.

Aww I'm sorry. Not all babies are good sleepers so don't feel bad! You will get through this for sure.

During the day my LO would only nap in the swing and only if I put her in it at the right time.

Lately I rest against the couch while he sleeps on my chest. This morning that didn't even work, so he's resting on my shoulder, eyes still open. Wish I could give you a tip that actually works.

We went through that, as well, but I think ours has mostly been due to reflux. We went through a wonderful time of it last night, in fact. I've learned, at least in my case, that setting him down and letting him have a good 3 minute fit works wonders for tiring him out. Can't do much else. I typically put him down on his tummy, though, because it doesn't seem to allow him to get overly upset that way.

DS is a few days younger than your daughter an he has sleep issues too (though hasn't had them as bad lately and hadn't had a 6 wk growth spurt). Most of his sleep issues are during the day when he doesn't want to nap. When this happens the only thing that works is swaddle paci and putting him in swing and even then he sometimes only sleeps 30 mins.

At night I live by the 5s. Sometimes I have o get up a few times to sooth him - usually put my hand on his chest and shhh and also rock his bassinet. He sleeps in a rock n play. Last night he slept from 1030-1:30 then 2-530. But he cried at 330 and 430. Not big cries but enough that I heard him on the monitor. I thought he would self soothe And he did. It's 6 am and I just put him down again - this time in the swing. He doesn't do as well in his bassinet for his last sleep. I can hear him grunting in he other room. This is a pretty typical night of sleep for us. No 5 hour stretches and I'm lucky if he sleeps 3.5 and elated when he sleeps 4.

Have you tried 5s? dS sleep was horrendous before u started using them religiously.

C did this when she hit her 6 week growth spurt/wonder week 5. She was a screaming, sleep fighting mess. Heck she's 12 weeks tomorrow and she still is sometimes.

I want to say it lasted about a week for us. On day 3-4, I lost it and had to set her down in the crib and walk away for a couple minutes for my own sanity. Less than 5 minutes, she was dead asleep. I don't know. She still gets like this sometimes and I just have to set her down and let her calm herself. Best I can figure is that her being with me or being rocked or patted by me is contributing to being overstimulated. She seems to NEED to cry it out sometimes.

For us, I think it was the growth spurt paired with overstimulation/overtiredness. After the first day when I let her CIO, I started just watching her really closely and would put her down at the first sign of being tired to kind of head off the hysterical fit. It seemed to work. Sometimes she does fussy cry before she falls asleep now, but its only for a couple minutes.

I cant completely empathize though because C only does this during the day. We have a strict, strict bedtime routine and bedtime and she does great at night. I had someone suggest to start putting her down earlier at night and it made the world of difference for us. Shes a pro night-sleeper now.

So far I have spent 3 hours and 20 minutes trying to get LO down tonight. Not only has she been abnormally fussy and awake all day (third day in a row), but she now absolutely REFUSES to go down anywhere. Not her crib. Not the bassinet. Not the bouncy seat. Not even our bed. She only wants to be held (and even then she is still fussing), and she screams like bloody hell when she is set down... whether on her side or back. I am absolutely at my wit's end... this baby seems to be getting worse and worse every day!!

For those of you who encountered this: Did you find something your LO liked to sleep in? When did this issue start to get better? Any ideas as to what might be the matter with her?

I feel like I am the only one with sleep issues like this... everyone else seems to be saying things like "My LO only gets up twice," or "My LO does 5 hour stretches in her crib." ACK!
