I don't like Bjorn products. They don't seem comfortable for the parent or the baby, so I'm still skeptical of this upgrade.

You can get Becos and Tulas in neutral (even plain) canvas colors! My husband happily wears our Tula.

@scg00387: I agree, and as soon as LO expressed any discomfort with the Bjorn, we stopped using it. I'm fortunate to have had many hand-me-down carriers to experiment with.

@MoonMoon: ha, I read that term too but can't remember who said it. I don't think the hip dysplasia thing is a huge concern - everything I've read said it just potentially exacerbates preexisting tendencies (not causes them). With that being said, it is very simple to see why it would be more comfortable to sit supported knee to knee and not facing out with pressure points on the thigh (at least when I think about how I would want to sit!)

I think the $30 mei teis would be a great option over the bjorns.

My suggestion is an infantino ergo! We still use ours at 17 months and it is ok re: hips etc.

I think the hip thing may be a little overhyped for a newborn, but I can't imagine extended babywearing with a crotch dangler! Just seems uncomfy.

The Tula is so worth it! My husband rocks it and there are neutral and plain black prints.

@Foodnerd81: I don't know about dads, but initially I was more comfortable with the Bjorn because it seemed so simple for an anxious ftm, and also a cool option during this summer's heatwave! LO initially liked it so we used it a lot, but he grew fast and didn't like it by 3 months. I don't think the hip dysphasia stuff is very valid-hyped by the babywearing industrial complex. (omg, which Bee came up with that term this morning? I love it!)

@NorCalWayfarer: I haven't heard anything/seen it but wow. It is ugly!! The most basic understanding I have of babywearing is that there is supposed to be knee to knee support - and several of those pictures don't have it. Why do you think your husband wouldn't like a Boba or Tula? Mine has happily worn our Boba, in a purple panel print, with our son. I certainly wouldn't spend the money to get him his own if it was just based off aesthetics, but I'm cheap!

I'm not familiar with that one (I have a moby and a Beco) but what is it with dads and Baby Bjorns? I know so many couples with two carriers, an Ergo/Beco/Tula for mom and a bjorn for dad.

I let DH choose the pattern on the Beco so he would wear it too :)

Does anyone have experience with the new Baby Bjorn One? Apparently it's more ergo than the original BB and has been developed based on input from the International Hip Dysplasia Institute. http://www.babybjorn.com/us/products/baby-carriers/baby-carrier-one/one/

I'm planning on getting the Boba for when baby is little. I'd like the Tula but I'm not sure if DH is willing to rock it -- I feel like he may be more open to the BB One.
