I'd do the plaid ones - They are cool.

We put DS in his soft soles once he started crawling around the house and pulling up.

Just a thought: maybe having the 6-12m in winter around the house so the feet are warm is a good option.

Just find out if his feet are normal sized! DS has HUGE feet, and was always AT LEAST one size BIGGER than his age. Like right now, he's a size 3 (like, past the month sizes) at 9 months. But, I never would have thought about that before I had a son with huge feet!

I think the plaid ones are adorable! I'd do 6-12 months just because the first 6 months flys by so fast and more people gift things in the smaller sizes.

@kjpugs: We had some gifted/hand me down shoes and I never put R in them unless it a special occasion/holiday/pictures. Otherwise she wore socks.
Even when she first started walking, 3 weeks of just socks at day care before I sent her in soft soled shoes.

I vote the sneaker ones so he can wear them in the winter. I like them because if it is really chilly they are harder to take off than just socks alone. I would do the 6-12 months size, they are also good if baby winds up crawling on any rough surfaces like the patio so they don't scuff up the tops of their feet.

I voted 6-12 months. Even though D wore Robeez really early, her feet were fat and the elastic would dig in so we went up a size.

@kjpugs: I just always classify Robeez as shoes. The newborn and littler shoes Sadie was gifted were all similar to Robeez. The boots she wore in the winter were Ministar, which is actually the Target brand of Robeez. I loved those for when it was cold, but it doesn't really get that cold here often. It gets so hot/humid here in the summer, so she was usually just in her bare feet. In the winter it was mostly just Trumpettes.

@kjpugs: same, the two pairs I'm talking about are the robeez-like "harder socks" not baby shoes. i just wasn't a fan of anything more than socks on A's feet, especially since he always ran warm too!

@mrsjyw: I guess I just think of them differently than shoes. We have a whole drawer full of gifted/hand me down SHOE shoes (harder sole) that we rarely/never use.

@kjpugs: we had a couple pairs of baby infant "shoes" and used them for special occasions (one time each). we didn't do much regular use since we never used a walker (which if we did we probably would have used). socks was all it was for us if anything! but this may be my laziness speaking more than practical use :P

@mrsjyw: @Mamaof2: @photojane: if someone had gifted them to you, would you have used them?

Our first ones were gifted to us, otherwise we never would have bought them... curious if it was a "didn't get them so didn't even consider them" thing or an active "i had some and chose not to use them" thing.

I am acutely aware now that I am overthinking this haha.

We were another no-shoes/cover/etc. til he was walking family. He was barefeet or socks until 10/11 months. It was just too much hassle even though he was early at standing, etc.

I would do a gender specific outfit in bigger sizing or toys. I know both of those things we never registered for and bought ourselves post-baby!

I'm now thinking maybe sneakers because in the winter, I'm sure you want to keep baby's feet warm right? She could use them over socks in the winter. Living in FL I don't think about that stuff :)

Maybe everyone doesn't know what Robeez are? They aren't "shoe" shoes. They're soft soled... so they're sort of like extra heavy duty foot protection without any stiffness.

Sadie didn't really wear shoes at all until she was walking. She was gifted newborn and 0-6m shoes she never wore. But, some people like shoes all the time. A friend of mine has her son in shoes all the time & he's only 6 weeks old! If you do go with shoes, I prefer the plaid too. :)

My cousin just had a sweet baby boy! She was team green so it was exciting to find out. She was almost at 42 weeks too so I bet she was just SO ready.

I already got her a shower gift but want to send something small ($25 or less range) that is gender-specific. When she found out we were having a girl she sent a registry gift and also a bow and socks set.

I wanted to do something that I really like. LO LOVES her Robeez. We put them in her when she's in the walker or jumper for extra "grip"/protection. But I know not all babies are as mobile-focused under 6 months as E is. (FYI- E has a 0-6 months size pair she is still in at almost 8 months, but I just bought her a 6-12 month set too.) I figured 6-12 month size was smart since more babies will be mobility focused then.

I loved these little plaid ones, but 6-12 months for him would be Dec-May. They live in NJ. Should I do the sneakers instead? I don't like them as much though. Or should I do the 0-6 months and hope he "needs" them?

Or is there another gift idea you think she might like more?

Thanks in advance!
