DS is 10 (almost) months and just under 23 lbs at 9 months (probably over that now) and we use and live the Ergo! I also have a Ellville woven wrap which is similar to a Moby but had no stretch to it and really has no weight limit. It's more hat you feel comfortable with and works from birth until toddler for most people. The woven is also very versatile and allows your to do front, back, hip, forward facing, carry 2 babies at once (with 2 wraps) etc. Once you learn to wrap you can really get your Minh out of a woven!

I have a Sakura Bloom Ring Sling, and you can use those up to 3 years old .Liv is 7 months old and SUPER wiggly and active, but when she gets in that shes pretty content. She loves being worn. I have the silk one, but the Linen ones are supposed to be great as well. And I like that it doesnt have a cheesy print all over it.

I agree with @Lozza re: wiggly baby and distribution of weight. I've tried a few and recently bought a mei tai that I absolute love. My thread about it here: http://boards.hellobee.com/topic/i-love-my-mei-tai-baby-carrier

I really like this comparison guide: http://www.theportablebaby.com/carrierfeatures.html
I don't think I would have been comfortable with a sling style at 7 months- my 7 month old was wiggly enough that I don't think it would have felt secure, plus they don't have the structure to redistribute baby's weight in a comfortable way.
I think good carriers are worth the cost- can you look into buying one used? We got our Ergo (which we love) new, but I picked up a used hiking carrier for a fraction of the new price, and I feel like I often see used carriers on Craigslist and at consignment stores.

Our daughter is 7 months old and is on the verge of outgrowing her infant car seat so I am in the market for a sturdy baby carrier. She is almost 21 pounds and 29 inches. Are there any good, not horribly expensive baby carriers out there for a baby of her size? I really like the sling style. Thanks!
