Specifically what I do is make a big batch of berry sauce (a jar of applesauce, 4 bananas, a bag of frozen blueberries and 1.5 cups of cereal) in the food processor, freeze it in giant ice cube trays, pop out the cubes and put them in a ziplock, and send one cube a day in a little container. It defrosts by lunch time and the texture is fine. The teachers suggested doing it this way, and it worked well. Other parents bring food pre-mixed and it's kept in the fridge.
