I say go for it! The music and stimulation of the mommy and me class can only be beneficial.
As far as "swimming" goes, I know tons of mommies who take their little ones into the pool when they're teensy, and also lots who start swimming lessons (ie, mom or dad gets in the pool with baby) when they're 6 months old. So one year would be perfect!

Swimming... I bring my 2 month old in the pool to swim with me, and he's been "swimming" (floating) since 3 weeks old! He loves the pool, especially since it has been so hot this summer. It's never to young to swim!

For the class, I have no clue what they are like, so I don't know.

The classes sound like fun! I think they're great for moms to get together and to give the babies a fun environment to roam around and enjoy music, different toys, storytime, etc...

Swimming at 1 yo, in my opinion, is for fun and just helps them to be comfortable in the water... Nothing wrong with that!

I don't think 6 months is too young. It'll be fun! :)

My LO is about 5.5 months old and I have been thinking about enrolling us in a mommy and me play group or music class. Do you think she is too young? The classes would start in Sept when she is over 6 months old.

Also, I found an indoor pool close by that offers swimmimg lessons to one year olds (parents join in water too of course). I think that would be another fun activity but DH thinks one is too young. Thoughts?
