Like many other posters, my girl also used to freak when getting put in--but when we started moving, she'd calm down. Now, she's perfectly content to be put into our Beco (she's almost 4 months) and only wiggles a little when I'm sticking her into our Boba wrap. Good job!!

Thanks for the advice everyone -it worked! I'm currently walking around my neighborhood with her in the ktan. She cried as I put her in and a minute after but I think putting her in is what bothers her, not actually being in it. She settled easily and is sleeping

I'd keep trying/wait. I didn't even have a wrap when she was younger, and she just didn't fit into anything right (she is an avg sized baby). I'd say at 3 months it got better. Also maybe put her in when she's already sleeping or drowsy?

i stopped using the infant insert because i thought LO was getting squashed and didn't like it. i pulled out the little pillow from the bottom of the insert and put that in the ergo so LO was still lifted up and could rest his froggy legs on something, but was not wrapped up in the rest of the insert. you could try that.

FWIW, my LO didn't seem to like the ktan either, but he ended up liking the ergo!

Keep trying! My son was the same way at first and I think it's just because it's a new scary experience. Once I got outside and we started moving he always calmed down. Those first 5-10 mins were stressful with the crying, but it doesn't hurt them to cry a little, especially when you know it's not because of a basic need (diaper, food, tired, illness). Pick a day that you don't need to actually be anywhere and just put her in the carrier and get moving. Give it 10-15 mins of movement and if she still isn't calm go back inside and try again a few days later.
My son did this for everything "new" and eventually learned to love those things after a few times (stroller, carrier, car seat, and even bath time!) They are so scared and everything is new, it all just takes some getting used to :-)

My DD was not a fan of any carrier until I got a Tula. We tried a sleepy (boba) wrap, WCRS, WCMT, Ergo, woven wrap...everything. She hated them all, but from the very first time in the Tula she was hooked. I'm not really sure what it is about the Tula, but it is truly magical. Maybe baby just doesn't like the carrier options you have.

J always hated it when he was tiny, he liked his legs out, he would push off of me, hated facing in.
Once he could see over the Ergo and rest his arms over it, he loved it. From 8 months to 2 years I carried him everywhere.

Same as others have said above....it took a few minutes (or more!) and walking around the house (or outside), but he'd eventually settle down. I'd stop moving once he was fully asleep and then I would carefully sit on the couch while he slept. I feel for you-those first weeks are HARD, and that witching "hour" in the evening is more like 4 hours. Hope she settles into the wrap soon-the Moby was a lifesaver!!

i had to do the same as @yellowbird: when LO was little. DD would be crying anyway and it's usually not an immediate release of "oh yeah, this is great!" it was a "heck no, i hate this thing.... oh, i'm close and warm and being walked around... hm... white noise... hmm... this is nice... hmmmmmm....." and she would be asleep. ha.

H wasn't a huge fan at first but we kept trying. Now at 18 months she loves being worn.

Bouncing, walking and sometimes fresh air all helped. My lo likes to be worn more as an alternative to a stroller now at 7 months. At that age I could put her in and move around to put her to sleep.

You should try a ring sling or wait til she's older and doesn't need the infant insert. If you have a store near you that carries different brands of good quality carriers, you should go and try on the different kinds. Ergo's are awesome, but they aren't for every family. How much does she weigh? Sorry for all the Q's, I work at a baby store and deal with kind of thing all day! Let me know if you have any questions!

I had to walk outside with C in the carrier. She would cry when I put her in but even walking from my condo into the hall would calm her and the fresh air outside would always work. But if I put her in the carrier and stayed inside she hated it.

She also liked to have her legs out pretty early- like maybe 8 weeks I stopped tucking her legs up in the froggy position? I made sure her legs were supported to the knees and let them dangle a little.

Whenever I put C in a carrier I bounce up and down or walk around, play white noise on my phone and give him at least 5ish minutes to calm down of he's really worked up. He goes to sleep within that time 90% of the time.

I would just say keep trying! My son hated all sorts of things at that age, the car seat, baths, the stroller...he liked the carrier but only when he was facing out. However, I feel like if I had put him in face in and gave him more time to settle down he may have been ok.

LO is 7 weeks old. We have an ergo with infant insert and a k'tan wrap. So far I can't get her to use either. Once she took a nap in the k'tan, but I can't get her to do it again or even be in either of them at all... as soon as I'm putting her in she starts screaming and if I stop putting her in she stops crying. In general she likes to stretch out and have her legs straight and to 'stand up'. We do swaddle her often during the day and every night and she likes that.

Any advice? Do I just need to wait until she's older?
