@Mae: I think berries tend to have a weird texture, too....one of our daycare ladies mentioned that it takes kids awhile to warm up to strawberries because they're freckly, because I was surprised she wasn't eating them!

So my LO isn't a big fan of food generally but she definitely prefers apples and pears to berries. Which at first was weird to me because I think berries are delicious but then I realized they are also very strong and a little tart in flavor, whereas apples and pears are just sweet.

This is a crummy time of year for delicious fruit.

I think you have to just keep offering. DS never liked frozen fruit. I used to cut up apple slices and warm them up and sprinkle with cinnamon, he loved that.

@Danizaur: I know at my grocery store you can buy a container of it for $2-$3 depending on size. May be worth it if it gets him to eat a little more fruit!

@Bao: Not yet! we usually keep watermelon during the summer but it's been out of season since we started finger foods. That's a good idea though!

@blackbird: I've tried frozen fruit but he's still not a fan. I haven't revisited pears lately though. I may try those.

A lot of fruits are out of season right now--E *loves* strawberries and won't touch them. She'll eat the frozen ones if i stir them into oatmeal, though. They're mushy, but they don't care. Fresh fruit is just so darn tart right now (and expensive)

Pears are also in season right now, and VERY delicious, especially if you sprinkle a little cinnamon on top. I use a little honey for E, too, now that she's older.Special post dinner treat :)

@Danizaur: I know it's not in season but have you tried watermelon? That tends to be less sour. Or cantaloupe.

@Foodnerd81: both! It's finger foods he rejects the most. I cut the blueberries in half but he's still not liking them.

@Bao: Maybe! He makes a sour face when he eats them. Almost like the taste is too strong

@MrsBananaGrabber: I'm a picky eater and I'll do anything to spare T from being one too. No fun.

I have a cousin who is 8 years old now, and she still won't eat any fruit or vegetables. Her parents, per doctor's orders, give her V8 drinks all the time because it's the only way to get any fruits or vegetables in her. I don't know if they could have done something differently to encourage her to like fruit, but I know they didn't try very hard.

@Danizaur: I'm in the same boat with E! My guess was because they can be a little sour. She will eat only bananas but they have a sweeter taste.

How have you tried giving it to him- purees or finger foods? C has always loved fruit but some were hard for her to pick up (like mango she likes but is slippery). I'm assuming you are cutting the blueberries? Without cutting I think they can't taste how delicious they are.

I'd just keep offering and trying different things and something will stick. I also like to throw different things into smoothies for variety.

T doesn't like any fruits except for bananas. I've tried so many different ones for breakfast but he rejects them. So weird because he likes everything else. He'll have fruit in a puree, but even then I noticed he doesn't like it alone but mixed with a veggie or something else.

The kid will devour broccoli but won't eat a delicious blueberry.

I'm stuck with bananas and i would like to give him more variety! Any tips?
