We chose the summer infant top of stair gate. We just installed it yesterday and it's super easy to open/close, and it's nice enough that it does't look like an ugly baby gate.

We have a stairway that will have to be blocked off on both ends by baby gates. Something easy to open and close would be preferable.

What baby gate did you choose?
