@rachiecakes: The only thing I can think of is (and this may seem ghetto!) weaving fabric between the spindles to fill in the gaps kind of like people weave mesh bumpers throught he crib slats? It might not be the perfect solution but if you could attache it properly and snugly it might solve the problem. It also might look horrendus! lol!

@prettylizy: ah! your photo didn't come up right away - yes, like that, but ours are iron and more open (DS could TOTALLY get inbetween them if he tried).
Can't wait to get out of this place... until then baby jail it is!

@prettylizy: ours is set up kind of like a loft - each floor has three walls and a side that's open where you can look over to the floor below.
kind of like this:

We have a raised ranch with similar 'railing situation'. We have a swinging gate attached at the top ot the stairs going down that matches our railing as best as we could find. I'm not sure how high your railing it, but we ours is high enough and the spindles are close enough together that it's not a concern for her as long as the stairway is gated.

Do you use one?

Our townhouse is possibly the worst home for a baby ever. It has three floors, all have railings that overlook the floor below it. The best way we could "baby proof" was to purchase a giant circular baby gate and let DS safely play in that during the day.
I feel like he's in baby jail and I know soon he's going to want a bigger space but there's no way, other than building walls - and we rent, to safely let him have free roam.

We are currently looking to purchase a home, just haven't found one yet.
Ugh.

DS goes out with DH to the park and to run errands all the time but sometimes I get sad that we don't have a lot of space for him.
Anyone else living in a small space? Any suggestions?
