I use it to block off my bathroom so I can put the cat food it there and the dogs don't eat it. We just cut a hole in the bottom so the cats can get through. Ours will have to be at the top of a staircase, as well, and our cat a) has defective knees so he can't jump like most cats, and b) isn't the brightest crayon in the box so probably wouldn't figure out how to go under a gate set up a couple inches. It's not essential that he go to the lower level, since his food and box are on the upper (main) level, but he hangs out down there a lot and his "safe spot" is there so I'd feel bad shutting him off from it. We have a gate at the bottom of the stairs and she wiggles through the spindles on the staircase. Then we have another one in the hall to the kitchen. Our cats can crawl under just fine! I need a gate for the top of my stairs that a cat can get under. Does this exist?</p> <p>If we ban our cat from the upstairs she will retaliate by peeing everywhere.
