@Petitduck: I'm trying to do it all the "right way". Offer milk before food - which is why I'm offering when I get home. But 20 minutes after I get home is dinnertime so, if she has her last bottle at 3, and she's not hungry for milk at 5:30, she eats real dinner - and gobbles it down. I offer again before bed (by 6:30) and half the time she pushes me away.

@Jess1483: I am trying to do the quiet room, no distractions, dark, cool, etc. Not helping. I'm going to try bm at mealtimes in her cup to see if I can get a little more into her.

So she’ll drink bm from a bottle no problem? One of my kids did this for a bit and I had to pump in order to get the breastmilk into them and then after a week I could go back to breastfeeding when I wanted to. Also, 2.5 hours since last bottle/ feeding for a 9 month old can be considered a short period of time , it was for my kids. So she just might not be hungry at that time after work. Are you offering boob before food or after usually?

I know for my second kid I would nurse on one side in the morning. Pump the other boob to empty and mix 4 oz with baby cereal and get the milk into baby that way. Which is crazy, but if I tried to nurse again then it would all be spit up and my baby didn’t want to nurse again anyway, especially not 45 minutes after the wake up session.

I think this can totally be a stage. If possible, can you nurse her right when you get her up in the morning/at nap and keep it dark and quiet so she can be kind of dozing? At least some of the time? Or if she’s doing great feeding, doing a sippy cup of bm with her meals (a pain, but hopefully it’s short term?)

@bhbee: I don't want to jinx it so I'm not going to say what's going on (eh hem, or not going on) with af right now. :) She will typically nurse on either side but I favor my left side because it's easier to hold her there (my problem, not her problem).

It's been getting progressively worse for about a week now. One of our big problems is SHE LOVES FOOD. She eats everything and anything we put in front of her. I'm going to start mixing some frozen milk into her food and give it to her in her cup she has at the table. At least then I know she's getting a little more!

How long has it been going on? I do think many babies go through a phase where they’re getting mobile and are like “I MUST GO DO THINGS” but may come back to nursing more later (doesn’t help the leaking I know).

Also is it at all consistent to one side? With my first she loved my better producer - eventually she only nursed on that one side because it was fast flow or nothing. So I was lopsided for a while until she weaned.

Also what’s going on with your postpartum af? If it’s just coming back - or at times during a regular cycle - that can dip your supply and annoy them but should improve. I guess if you’re leaking a lot probably not the issue but just came to mind.

Just a few ideas if it helps. I know this must feel super hard

Aw hugs. Being a mama is hard. It is very common for children to not want to drink breastmilk or formula once they start food. I would definitely scale back on the food for now to make sure she is getting enough breastmilk.

My daughter is 9 months old and is eating solids (3 meals a day). She has very, very little interest in breastfeeding at this point. I get home from work and try to feed her (it's been about 2.5 hours since last bottle) and she refuses. She does eat solids, though. At nighttime, she will maybe nurse on one side and then push me away with a stiff arm and looks away, to somewhere else in the room. She does the same in the middle of the night and in the morning. She gets enough to satisfy herself and then quits. I'm leaking like crazy and I'm honestly emotionally not handling it well.

Anyone else have experience with a baby doing this? Make me feel better?

In case you're still reading, I'll give an example of this morning:
Nurse on left side. Get dressed and play for a while. Then we went downstairs about 45 minutes later and I tried again, no interest. Sat her in her high chair and she ate a bowl of oatmeal. I tried after breakfast and she pushed me away again. Then I had to go to work...with a leaking boob. :(
