@MrsSRS: I'm dreading the day we have to wean from the miracle blanket! I've been trying some naps here and there with an arm out and she doesn't seem to ever fall asleep when I do that. Just lays there flailing her little bird arm.

So 2 nights ago - I had her out all day and she barely napped. She was still in a good mood though somehow. My gut was telling me to try the crib again bc I figured the drive to sleep would be very high. And she slept 8:45-2:30 like a brick! We nursed and then she slept another 2 hours there before becoming restless so we moved her to our bed for the last hour. Yay!

Last night wasn't quite as good but she still slept 4 hours in the crib and then 1 hour before we moved her to the RnP.

I'm guessing it will take a little bit before her night schedule regulates in the crib again? So proud of her though! I think the first time we tried she was in the middle of a wonder week. She has been so much more chill this week, I'm glad I waited.

We switched at about 3.5 months and did cold turkey with a simultaneous wean out of the miracle blanket and into the magic merlin sleep suit. So maybe just wait a few more weeks, using the RNP with the buckle, then try again? The suit made our transition effortless.

@buttermilk: I just reread your post, and duh you mentioned that you made a nest already. Oops! Anyway, I would stick with it for a day or two but if it's not working, then I'd do the rnp in the nursery (that's actually what I did for a few days before putting LO in the crib with the nest)......
Good luck- I hate all transitions! They're mostly ok but I get so anxious about them!

Oh man the transition from RnP to crib was such an issue for us for a long time. We tried first somewhere around 12 or 13 weeks, and it didn't work at all. We used the snuggle nest, elevated mattress, etc. and while we thought it'd get better each night, it did not and he just wasn't ready. Around 19 weeks or so we tried again and it went much better. Of course all babies are different, but consider that she may just not be ready at that age.

When we were successful at 19 weeks, we also discovered that we had to have his legs somewhat elevated and resting on something, similar to the pictures above. We made the snuggle nest with the U at the bottom, and made it so that his feet were resting on the top of the towels, since his feet were always elevated but resting on part of the RnP. Hopefully that makes sense. It worked for us! Then we weaned him off all of these things slowly over the next 3-4 weeks and he has since slept beautifully in the crib with no sleep crutches!

@buttermilk: You might give it another month or so. When she starts rolling you'll need to get her out of the swaddle and into the crib. I definitely regretted waiting to do it so long with my second - he was rolling at 4m and I kept him swaddled and in the R&P until 5 months (after 2 failed attempts at transitioning!)

@BabyTsMom: looks cozy! she was kicking her legs out of the miracle blanket like crazy last night so I bet that would help with at least that part. So torn about whether to chicken out and try again in a few weeks or just stick it out now...

@BabyTsMom: I did make a nest but only for her top half. Maybe I should try all the way around so she has something at her feet like she is used to?

you could try making the crib a little cozier by making a sort of nest with towels underneath the sheet, so that the baby feels a little more snug. roll up a couple of towels the long way and make a U shape, then when you put her down, her feet will be at the bottom of the U. hope that makes sense.
you can also try the Merlin suit, though it might be big for her now.

I wonder if she is too young or just not ready? Should I try RnP in nursery for a while since that worked for a good stretch last night?

We did another bandaid rip off from RNP to PNP. LO #2 is in a pack n play for another two weeks until we move. The transition wasn't too bad because he sleeps in one at daycare. He's happier to have more space. I gave away the RNP already to a pregnant friend.

@ldh112: she currently naps in the swing downstairs in the daytime and I really don't want to give that up yet.

Forgot to add we also tried this one night with the flat pack n play and she had the same reaction.

We've begun the transition ourselves by moving her naps to the crib. Maybe try that first for a few days?

I tried various nest methods with both of my kids (one slept in R&P until 4m the other until 5m!) and those were major fails. I just had to rip the bandaid off and go straight to the crib (the first one I put him in the crib in his swaddle for the first few weeks....the second quit the swaddle and put him in the crib cold turkey WITH a lovey).

I wrote a post about the transition. The first took about a week to get back to normal sleep, but none of it was particularly awful. The second I just dealt with one horrendous night of sleep (up hourly) and then one mediocre night of sleep before his sleep returned to normal.

Could you put a shirt that you've worn during the day near her? Or maybe sleep with her sheet or swaddle in the bed with you one night so your scent is on it. The smells could be different in that room, so adding your scent might help?

My 8 week old has always been a good sleeper giving us a 5-6 hour stretch at night from the beginning. She has been sleeping in a RnP near my side of the bed, but she is very tall and I notice she wakes up sometimes uncomfortable that she has scooted so far forward. We swaddle so don't normally strap her in, although I finally did that this week so she couldn't slide down and she slept even longer! 10 hours 2 nights ago, woohoo!

I figure though, it's time to move her to the crib bc she is getting noisier and I am tired of tiptoeing around my bedroom and I don't want to have to make the transition when i go back to work next month.

So I setup her crib last night - angled one side of the mattress with a pillow underneath and make a snuggle nest with a rolled towel under the sheet. Even put her RnP insert on top. Still swaddled, white noise. I even set up the air mattress in her room so I could sleep there the first few nights. Ready to go! This should work right? Wrong!!!!!

She slept for 2 hrs from 9:45-11:45, but after that I was up until 3 am rocking shucking her back t sleep. She stayed for 5 mins at most in the crib each time, usually less. I finally brough th RnP into the nursery and she slept in it for 4 hours until 7am.

So I have no idea what to attempt tonight. Try again and stick it out? Go back to the RnP? I got very little keep and as a result has very little milk when I woke up.

What would you guys do?
