R (10 weeks) when nursing takes her fist and rubs it over eye over and over again. I have to hold her hand do she won't do it. I don't want her to scratch her eye.

LO is 3 months and doesn't hit her chest but she'll definitely bonk herself in head and do other weird things like squeezing her cheeks and pulling her ears and hair. I think it's a combo of not having complete control yet and just discovering that they can do that stuff.

Yep! My LO started doing that around 3 months. I think he just gets excited and starts moving his arms but can't really control it.

Ha! My 5.5 month old just started hitting herself on the thigh, so similar. It seems normal to me! I think she's just learned how to move her arm a certain way. Sh likes flinging her toys back and forth now too!

My 4.5 month old son has started whacking himself on his chest when he is alert, quiet and generally happy. He can get quite rambunctious doing it, but doesn't seem to hurt himself. I assume this is normal, but just wondered if anyone else's babies have exhibited the same behavior. Thanks!
