We've had a couple of scary bouts of hives from random things: Kiehl's baby lotion and oatmeal. What's odd is when he was a newborn that lotion was fine as well as the oatmeal but somehow both things seem to trigger hives. I'm hoping he grows out of it since his allergies seem to be evolving.

@Mrs. Bee: I can't think of anything new that he has had or that I have had either. He just started eating yogurt but it has been over a week since we have introduced it.

I am kind of worried and scared of him having a bigger allergic reaction.

My son was around 10 months old and started puffing up from eggs we had given him (successfully with no issue on several previous occasions). It wasn't affecting his breathing but his face swelled up and his cheeks and lips turned bright pink/red, kind of like a clown. We gave my son a little benadryl and it helped a lot. Be ready for him to be very sleepy though and make sure you give only the dosage prescribed by his pediatrician.

it could be an allergic reaction to something he ate?

Have any of you dealt with hives with your LO? My 9 month old son has had them off and on today and I am not sure why! Every time he gets up from a nap he has hives, but he didn't have them when he woke up this morning. We haven't changed anything in his eating/laundry/etc. His doctor thinks it might be a reaction to the amoxicillin he is just finishing up and just recommended we give him Benadryl.

Has anyone else had this experience or had to give their LO Benadryl for hives?
