What's odd is when he was a newborn that lotion was fine as well as the oatmeal but somehow both things seem to trigger hives. It wasn't affecting his breathing but his face swelled up and his cheeks and lips turned bright pink/red, kind of like a clown. We gave my son a little benadryl and it helped a lot. My 9 month old son has had them off and on today and I am not sure why! Every time he gets up from a nap he has hives, but he didn't have them when he woke up this morning. We haven't changed anything in his eating/laundry/etc. His doctor thinks it might be a reaction to the amoxicillin he is just finishing up and just recommended we give him Benadryl. </p> <p>Has anyone else had this experience or had to give their LO Benadryl for hives? </p>
