What about just a regular mini crib? Or a cheap crib from Ikea? Sturdier than a PnP for toddler safety.

Biggest thing that helped with keeping my kids from crawling or messing with baby is a gate. I know most people don’t want to use one but I have to use one. Yeah have an almost 3 year old with delays and a 2 year old. They sometimes don’t listen no matter what. Kids will be kids. I use this baby gate for when I need to cook it pee. Right now out kitchen is blocked off so she stays in there if I’m not holding her. Idk if this will help but I’ve noticed it’s what works best for us and our family

I had a 2 year old when DD was born so worried about this... we used a R&P, a swing, and the pack & play. LOVED the pack & play with the newborn napper, mostly because we used it as a changing station in the living room, I just stored the diapers inside it. DD could nap there if needed, and when she was older we converted it to a full P&P and it also kept DS out.

The R&P was so nice b/c it was so portable, so if I had to pee or shower, I just brought it with me. Something similar would be nice to have!

@Chuckles: I saw the first one and I think that might be my top pick so far. To @ALV91711's point, it stinks that the original RNP is not an option. I don't think it would have been high enough to keep my toddler out. I also saw this. It is a little more than I wanted to spend and it is a little short but I like the fact that it has a seat mode and a more flat mode.

@Petitduck: I thought about getting a pack n play that had a newborn napper and a changing surface. I am hesitant though because my son has poked holes through two PNPs already and one may have been from the outside. :meh:

I just use the top portion of the pack and play to keep my newborn safe. I put the baby gym mat in it and it works great. It’s in the corner of our living room and so it’s sort of out of the way, but my older kids can still peek in on the baby if they want to. That’s how I manage to cook and go pee

I like the first one @Chuckles: linked, mostly for the fact it rocks.

It is hard when rock n play isn’t a choice.

I was literally just looking for a rock n play alternative to keep our November baby off the floor and away from the dog if I need to do something crazy like pee or get some water :) Also, newborns won't be able to use bouncy seats until a couple of months old anyways.
I found these two that seemed like good options: https://www.amazon.com/Fisher-Price-Rock-Play-Portable-Bassinet/dp/B008DDPL32 - I know it says rock and play but it lies flat and has mesh sides. But otherwise it's similar, which is awesome - lightweight and easy to move around

https://www.amazon.com/MiClassic-Stationary-Bassinet-One-Second-Portable/dp/B07SSX5YC2/ref=pd_sbs_75_t_2/145-2998140-6642004?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B07SSX5YC2&pd_rd_r=803a03ec-dd37-454c-ae5a-bda6d959818e&pd_rd_w=0Cah5&pd_rd_wg=Fp90H&pf_rd_p=5cfcfe89-300f-47d2-b1ad-a4e27203a02a&pf_rd_r=CNYE2STZE96FZXTJBHVA&psc=1&refRID=CNYE2STZE96FZXTJBHVA
- I also liked the idea and look of this one

Looking for ideas of a baby holder to keep on the main floor of the house to keep a newborn away from a rambunctious, climbs on everything, cruises on everything 17 month old. We have a swing, but I wouldn't trust the toddler around it (even if the newborn isn't in there!). Same with a bouncer-- he would want to climb in. I would also like something that doesn'y just lie flat.

Are there any baby holders out there that would work? Surely I can't be the first mama to want to be able to pee or get a snack without having to take the toddler or newborn with me!
