@JennyPenny: Yeah we did what @gingerbebe: did. We have a dose right before bed. It wore off at some point in the night between 5-6 hours. He’d wake up fussing. I’d do a tiny like sesame seed amount of orajel to calm him, do another Motrin dose, and he’d go back to sleep.

Still also happens at 3yo when he’s sick :-) Dose before bed and if he’s really ill he’ll wake up around the 6 hour mark.

@gingerbebe: Ours has been a drool monster since the day he was born - though I might say its increased lately. I did take this pic this weekend :silly: But he's also been sucking (or chewing) his thumb the past few days which is a new behavior!

@JennyPenny: Yeah, for us, Advil always wore off at the 6 hour mark, so we'd dose at bedtime (730pm), expect him to get up around 130am, and then hope he slept through until 730am. So we'd have to get up once at night, which was fine. One sign for us was being mouthy - fists in mouth, drooling, and sucking on stuffed animals or loveys.

@gingerbebe: great idea!

@SweetiePie: I could also probably dose at the start of the night. Just cause I'm not waking up to groaning before 4 - doesn't mean he's not uncomfortable then too :-/

Yeah, we kept a thermos of ice water and a small cup with pre-filled syringes of Advil in our hallway so that we could quickly dose our boys and get them back to sleep. In that case, I don't wait for 30 minutes or whatever - I tend to them right away and get them back to sleep as soon as possible. It takes about 20 minutes for the Advil to kick in, so at worst, I would have rock them for that time, but they would settle.

Yeah teething. Just the right age for it. And my son was never bothered by it during the day, only at night.
Motrin and orajel were our lifesavers.

@JennyPenny: Teeth really move a ton at night too...so if they're moving around on him, and it's just achy, that could be his low moaning. Both of my kiddos were loud short shriekers. Haha...

@2PeasinaPod: @bubblegum: I can't believe this hadn't crossed my mind. I'll check for teeth after daycare today. I haven't noticed anything yet, but I remember with DS1 he was grumpy a week or 2 before I could feel anything anyway, so *shrug*

@JennyPenny: We dealt with this with DS and it was due to teething when the crying increased I would wake him up but if he was just crying low, I would suffer in bed but let him continue to sleep. It's tough

My guess is that he's teething. Does it look like anything is coming in? DS2 is on his last molars, and I'm almost done, but he was always one to cry out in pain in the middle of the night because of teething.

For the past week my 7 month old (who has been STTN for months now) seems to be crying in his sleep. It’s started anywhere between 4am and 6am. Sometimes he stops on his own, sometimes I go get him after half an hour or so because I’m not sure what else to do. It’s a pretty low-level quite cry/moan but still enough to wake me up on the lowest volume on the monitor. When I check on him though he still looks asleep, like he doesn’t even register me coming into the room like he does when he did when he was definitely up for the day.

Has anyone else dealt with this? Is it a phase? Is there a fix? My gut is to let him CIO so it’ll pass but it’s loud enough that I can’t sleep and I’m too nervous to just turn the monitor off altogether. Any tips?
