I don't think it's weird, I find myself browsing the Target baby clearance all the time. I've found some great deals on stuff that we will eventually need. I will say that I've limited myself to buying only things that are at least 70% off and gender neutral and I was trying to keep things small, so they could fit in a storage tub. But I did buy a glider/ottomon combo that was originally almost $200 and I ended up getting it for around $60. But I guess I don't really think it's any different than taking somebody's baby hand me downs before I'm actually pregnant.

Even with being pregnant, I only bought two things (besides basic decor stuff that we can use anyways), baby book and baby shoes for reveal pic. Having had a miscarriage, glad I didn't have a bunch of stuff laying around. I'm not superstitious, just was going to budget for stuff later in pregnancy, and most of the fun still to buy is gender specific.

I haven't, but I think I would under certain circumstances - for example, on vacation in another country if I saw something I loved that I could only get there. I've had a baby niece for as long as I've been TTC (she's 15 months now) so any time I see something I love, usually clothes, I end up buying it for her instead. Hopefully I'll have a girl and I'll get it all back in hand me downs, haha!

I normally wouldn't have, but when we first started TTC, we were in Hong Kong for a few days. We picked up one of those traditional outfits for a baby. Because when else would we ever have the opportunity?!

I bought a crib before we were even TTC so no judgement here! (For the record it was in great condition at a garage sale for $25... how could I pass that up???)

I was afraid it would take a long time TTC and I was have reminders at home of the baby I wasn't having yet, so I didn't. I didn't even want to buy a cute onesie to give to DH when we got a BFP-- though I did actually buy one the month we got the BFP because it was a limited time thing, so good timing. It wasn't really superstition, as much as being afraid of problems and reminders that would upset me.

That said, I knew I'd get tons of hand me downs in both maternity and baby stuff (my sister has a 2 year old and isn't having any more, so it's all mine!), AND I lived in a small one bedroom apartment, it's not like I had someplace to stash a pack and play because I got it on sale. We needed that space for the things we actually used at the time.

To each her own, but I wouldn't do it. Considering how long its taken, it would've made me extra sad this whole time if I told myself it was OK to buy things.

I don't think it's weird, but it would just make me sad to have all these things with no baby for it all. So I don't do it. Every now and then I see something that seems like a great deal, but I hold off and remind myself there will be other good deals when the time is right.

I bought a few things right before we started TTC and I also made a few baby things( I knit). I pretty much stopped making or buying things after a couple month into the TTC journey feeling a little weird about it. Now that it has been over a year definitely not and I have used most of the things I have made as gifts for all of my friends babies. I think that if it makes you feel good why not. TTC can be stressful so if it feels good and brings you hope nothing wrong with that.

I don't think it's wrong in any way to do so, but I personally won't spend money that I don't need to yet. I'll have plenty of time to buy baby stuff when I actually get pregnant. There are always good deals to be made too.

I'm not superstitious so that doesn't mean anything to me.

i know it's frowned upon by many, but i've totally done it! i would be more hesitant to buy during the first weeks of a pregnancy because then there is an association between the item and buying it for that baby, but beforehand there isn't that connection.

my rules are generally that it has to be at least 2/3 off, gender neutral, doesn't expire (carseats and some other items are only good so long so you want to hold off to get the most out of them) and something i LOVE & know i'd buy at some point. i also have some maternity items that i've gotten for free or almost free, because eventually i'll need them & why spend extra $$ paying full price then if i can get them slowly for nothing now!?? i mean guess i just don't think a white tee shirt is going to be worth more or be that much improved between now & when i get KU. target coupons are great for this! sometimes they'll have a $5 or $10 off a liz lange item coupon and if you can find something on clearance, it's often free! woohoo! i am the ultimate cheapskate though =D maybe if you planned on having a baby shower or getting lots of hand me downs, it wouldn't be as big of a deal, but we don't plan on either & need to save as much as possible, plus we've been trying for a long time & it helps me pass the time.

I didn't buy anything before I was safely past 24 weeks. I didn't see any reason to, honestly, because the deals are so good all the time and gear/clothing seeems to get better every year.

Nope, I did it :), I did feel like I was tempting fate a bit, but sometimes a deal came along that was too good to pass up. It was my guilty pleasure.
