@Sapphiresun: My LO cant eat salad greens (raw) yet at 16 months. At 6 months I would give her very soft steamed veggies. I was kind of a wimp at BLW though and supplemented with purees

I've never given him salad (lettuce leaves/ kale) yet at 18 months but he has had them blended up in a smoothie before.

I haven't found the leaves to be an issue. DD munches on lettuce and spinach. She can also eat soft things in a salad like cucumber or beans.

We did BLW and eat a lot of salads. I didn't offer salad for awhile, although LO helped herself often and would munch on a lettuce leaf! We eat a lot of spinach salads but cooked LO's spinach so it was easier to eat

I usually give him some of what we eat but not everything we eat. Salad would be too difficult in my opinion but I am not strictly BLW so maybe others have more knowledge.

I take the parts of the salad that can be turned into sticks and give him that - broccoli, cucumbers, pepper strips, snap peas, etc.

LO eats pretty much what we eat (nearly 15 months old) and he has a hard time with salad. We give him leaves every now and then, but they just kind of stick to his mouth. The other bits of the salad are fun though! Cucumbers, tomatoes (started that around 10 months).

LO is 5.5 months old and we're just about to really start solids. I'm leaning toward baby led weaning. I read the book about it and it encourages having LO sit at the table and eat the same thing you eat. DH and I eat some sort of meal salad probably 3-4 times a week, and it seems like leafy greens would be really difficult for a beginner eater? If you did BLW and are big salad eaters, did you feed it to your LO as well, or make them their own veggie? Let them tackle the crunchier middle parts of greens? Adapt your own eating to foods they can eat?

Thanks so much for any input!
