But it broke when she was a year, and we didn't bother buying a new one for her or LO 2 (who is still in our room). Even when I was downstairs and she was upstairs, i could pretty much hear her. </p> <p>Now we are in a bigger house and I have a toddler who makes a lot of noise. LO2 will be going into nursery which is pretty far from the masters. But we actually don't need the sound part at all since we can hear her from every part of the condo. We do have a cheap audio one for travel when sometimes we actually are out of ear shot. </p> <p>I don't *need* the video but I love having it. We then plugged it in to DD1's room. Because DD2 still sleeps in our room so she doesn't need it. I can't believe we never used one before! When summer came we started keeping his door open when we went to bed and didn't really need the monitor anymore.</p> <p>The monitor was mostly used during naps on the weekend. I was so sensitive to her cries, I would wake up with the tiniest sound from her! Honestly I don't think it is even plugged in. She's only a few doors down, and I can hear her immediately through the night, it's not necessary. </p> <p>Anyone skip the monitor or realize it wasn't as necessary as you thought? </p>
