DS didn't roll til about 6 months - he probably could have before then but he had no desire. Our PT did teach us a "trick" to get him to roll from tummy to back though (DS had torticollis and had PT once a week). Put baby on his tummy and sit behind him with a toy he is interested in (and take all other toys out of his line of vision). Hold the toy in front of him til it catches his eye, then slowly raise it straight up and behind him. If he continues to follow it with his gaze, he'll roll over. DS wouldn't always fall for this, but sometimes it worked!

Thanks for the advice all! I guess the worrying never stops. I will just continue to work with him on the weekends and limit his carseat/stroller time :)

Does your LO like tummy time? He may just not roll because he's happy on his tummy. My LO rolled belly to back super early... Like 9 weeks. But she only did it because she HATED tummy time. Now she's gotten used to it and doesn't roll nearly as much. She can, but she doesn't want to any more.

My LO CAN roll belly to back but he never really tried/wanted to and it's very rare he does...he preferred being on his belly and moving. When we put him on his back he'd almost always immediately flip onto his stomach. Now he's crawling and, like @mamabolt: goes from belly to sitting.

5 months is still totally normal -- my LO is 9 months and barely rolls over... i'd say that functionally he doesn't really roll. he is really healthy and strong though, and can almost stand on his own :) my doctor said to just keep and eye on it and he may be the type that walks before he crawls! just let your doctor know so they can keep an eye on your LO!
i wouldn't worry until he/she was a few months older :)

LO is 8 months and she never rolled belly to back. She rolled back to belly only. And now she crawls so she goes from her belly to sitting.

i wouldn't worry too much yet. i know tons of babies that didn't roll over until 6 months. just try to do as much tummy time as you can on the weekends.

@lilyann: If you are worried, I would definitely ask his daycare teachers to work on it with him. I totally understand LO being too tired when you get home to work on a skill.

I know every baby is different and they go thru milestones at different ages but I can't help worrying! LO turned 5 months yesterday and has no desire to roll over. He can lift his head when laying down, he loves to practice standing and sits for a couple of minutes unassisted but when he is on his tummy, he doesn't even try to roll. He is in daycare so I can't really attest to what he does during the day, skill wise. By the time I get him home, he is almost too tired to try more tummy time.
Any other momma's have late rollers? Any advice? Should I tell his daycare to work with him on the floor more often?
