@Colee: how old is your baby? F was never interested in putting weight on his legs and "standing". He COULD do it, he just didn't WANT to do it. At his 9 month appointment, our pedi said to give it until 12 months before we getting concerned. He's walking around like he owns the place now (16 months), so I guess he's fine!

That's all anecdotal, so I'd mention it to your doctor to see what he/she says, but it sounds like still in the range of typical development.

@MamaMoose: We go to the ped on Wednesday so I will definitely ask about this. It seems like most of my friends babies are similar to yours in that they were able to bear weight on their legs at an early age.

@illumina: @Cherrybee: Thanks ladies! It is interesting how a baby's preferences can effect development. M seems to have no interest in standing at all, but I see other babies like yours that love it!

We're in the same situation as @illumina: She can bear weight on her legs but that's ALL she wants to do and at 6 months she doesn't sit unassisted, she doesn't roll over, she's nowhere near pushing up on her hands....

.... I think all babies do things at different rates and there isn't any reason to worry.

I think all babies are different. LO has been able to bear weight on her legs since before 2mths and loves to stand, but she hates tummy time with a passion, so we don't practise much and hence she is 4mths and nowhere near pushing up on her arms or rolling front to back.

I would definitely ask your pediatrician about it and see what they suggest. My LO was bearing weight on her legs by the time she was two months old, but I'm sure there is a range of ages where babies do this.

I'm filling out a questionnaire about my LO's development for her four month check up this week. She is doing great in all areas except she doesn't support her weight on her legs when being held by an adult. I see other babies her age "standing" when their parents hold them upright, but M is not even close to doing this. When I hold her up with her feet on the floor, she will sometimes press her feet flat for a second, but then her legs just get floppy like noodles!

Anyone else have a baby with noodle legs? Is this cause for concern or does she just need more practice. In all fairness, holding her up to stand has never been something I've focused on like tummy time. Maybe I just need to give her more opportunities to practice this skill?
