@deerylou: i've read its more about the frequency than consistency of the poop that indicates whether its diarrhea for newborns that is probably hard since they are pooping at every feeding! but i guess if its more than normal.

Normal! I learned all about bm poop when u took LO to emerg. Because of right orange liquid poop.

The doctor, who giggled in the most professional way possible, and did a complete physical of LO, informed me that bm poop can be many colours and liquidy wasn't a problem. I felt so silly for being there.

BF poop usually looks like yellow liquid with some whitish "seeds", or cheese like bits.

Sorry for that visual. :)

Thanks, ladies. It was just a little concerning to see what appeared to be yellow water in her diaper, when her stools have been much darker, up to this point. Is there a way to differentiate between normal BM poop and genuine diarrhea?

Normal! In my experience, BM diapers have always been runnier than FF diapers.

So, today I had some sudden success with my supply, and was able to give DD 75% of her feedings with breastmilk. After one of her breastmilk bottles, she had a very watery bowel movement - basically just yellow liquid. Since she's been formula fed, her poop has been much thicker and darker in color.

Should I be concerned, or is this normal? Should I be worried that this is diarrhea? Her urination patterns haven't changed, and she's without fever or extreme fussiness. I feel so bad for flip flopping around between formula and breast milk, as I slave away, working through my supply issues. I hope in not completely ruining her tummy!
