@ALV91711: Have you tried the rapid relief version of desitin. it is light blue. we had better luck with that over the purple one. Our routine for rashes is to wipe with water (after using a regular wipe) to clean off any residue from the wipe. Then we pat dry, and then apply the diaper cream to dry skin. This usually clears the rash up. Then since he keeps pooping alittle bit each time once the rash is clear we use an ointment like A&D or even aquaphor as a protective barrier.

With my second he pooped 20 times a day. Not even an exaggeration. From week 2-3.5 of life. We went through tons of diapers and it was diarrhea style and would happen mid change. My midwife said it was fine and was because it was hot outside and my milk was adjusting and hydrating him? Don’t know that that made sense to me, but he was totally fine and happy and gaining a pound a week. It caused and awful diaper rash though and it took me a while to clear it up. I used a peri bottle to wash his bum at every change and then rubbed olive oil into his bum and put cream on top. Coconut oil and zinc creams did nothing for me, but once it healed I always used a baseline type barrier cream at every change just in case until he was at least 6 months old.

Normal. DS2 especially pooped SO MUCH when he was little. I second using the purple desitin until it clears up then use Vaseline or coconut oil with every change.

My kid pooped a thousand times a day, then he went 9 days without pooping 🤣. I once heard for exclusively breastfed babies, every tyoe of poop and frequency is normal. As they grow their little GI system is changing so I'd say that's normal.

Yea, definitely normal. My now 7 month old did this and she actually had an open sore rash that consequently took forever to heal - we saw dr multiple times for the rash and they said the constant pooping almost leaking of poop def normal. But I’d keep on top of changes and using a diaper cream so the rash doesn’t get worse. It got better over time - maybe by 3 months or so it had stopped?

DS will be 7 weeks tomorrow and is breastfed. He usually has 1-2 good sized poops a day. My question is he als has a small amount of poop at every diaper change. It is normal looking but giving him a rash. My ped had said not to worry if he went a week without pooping. I will talk to our ped about this but we don't have an appointment until the 25th.

I guess my question is is this amount of pooping normal?
