I used cornstarch powder when we were at the beach to help manage the heat rash. Other than that, we don't really use it, even though I have a bottle at the changing station.

Cornstarch is fine. It's just talc that can be a problem.

hmm just checked my powder - it's J&J but it's pure cornstarch. should I still return it? I'm thinking of ordering the Burt's Bees powder since we have the other products (lotion, shampoo/wash).

I remember when I was a kid, my Mom used to use it on herself all the time. Her bathroom was always covered in powder. Haha! I think she used it because it helps to dry you off faster and keeps you dry. I like putting it between the thighs to keep thigh rub to a minimum when I do use it. ;-)

I have been wondering about this, as people have given us 3 mini J&J regular bottles of powder and one giant lavender one. I've powdered his bum bum twice, but felt guilty both times.

If you look at the labels they have cornstarch versions that are still scented. Johnson and Johnson and all the other brands I think have it. I have always used powder after shaving (no razor burn!) and I always get the cornstarch kind.

I've never heard that but don't like the smell of baby powder so I've never used it on DD. I did try some plain cornstarch once when she had a pretty bad diaper rash (on advice of pediatrician).

I haven't. Good to know @NYCaliMama: because my LO sometimes has chub rub so I'd like to use some.

My FIL had to call poison control when my BIL was a baby because he looked away for two seconds at the changing table and my BIL was eating the baby powder. He was fine.

I've been reading that using talcom powder is now not recommended because it can irritate the baby's lungs. Question, does this mean all of us had irritated lungs as children?

I love the smell of it and will admit to using small amounts on M's bum every once in a while. I'm not just blasting it on, though.

Anyone else want to fess up to using powder on your lo? :-)
