@caitcat: ah you totally captured how I'm feeling! LO turns 5 months old today so we're close to starting solids! I'm eyeing the box of baby cereal and wondering when to start... So glad your LO's issues resolved! I'm also wondering if adding a very small amount of dairy back into my diet will undo all the progress. His reflux is better, and his eczema is all gone. But there's a case of La Colombe lattes starting at me in the kitchen lol!

@MoonMoon: I'm vegetarian too, and soy was hard to cut out...I remember at some points feeling like any of my protein sources caused problems for the baby. It's hard! Early on, beans/lentils seemed to make her gassier, and then when I cut out dairy/soy, I felt like I was running out of options. I found that dairy made a bigger difference than soy for her though, so I ended up just trying to limit it as best I could but not stress about it quite as much. Everything got a lot better around 6-9 months as she took off with solids.

@caitcat: it sounds like our LOs had/have similar issues! I'm glad elimination and probiotics helped you. I've been off dairy for 3.5 weeks now and his skin is so clear. I want to try eliminating soy too, but I'm intimidated because I feel like it's in everything, especially since I'm vegetarian.

I used the Gerber soothe probiotic drops with both of my kids. I don't think they were a cure-all, but my memory is that they helped in general.

Also, in case it helps - my oldest also had eczema that cleared up more quickly than her silent reflux and digestive issues did after I eliminated dairy and soy from my diet. Her fussiness in general improved pretty quickly, but it took a little longer than I'd hoped for overall improvement. I hope your little one gets some more relief soon!

@BUNBUN: thank you for the recommendation! I'm glad it's been working well for your daughter.

We're set to begin solids in the next month so fingers crossed! My older son was also breastfed, but his poops were not like this so I can't tell what's on or off the spectrum of normal!

We use Gerber's Soothe drop probiotics on recommendation from her ped. DD (9 mo) has been on low-dose amoxicillin for a bladder issue since birth. At one point they switched her to bactrim and it was a disaster (screaming at night, gassy), so we switched her back and I started the probiotic.
FWIW, her stools were quite soft until she really got into solid food., so that could be normal for your son.

@MoonMoon: I think they were helpful but we weren’t experiencing the same issues so it would be hard to compare.

@MoonMoon: my oldest is 7 and he’s the one we used these for so keep that in mind! Maybe others have more current recommendations! But this was the brand our pediatrician recommended. BioGaia Protectis Probiotics Drops for Baby, Infants, Newborn and Kids Colic, Spit-Up, Constipation and Digestive Comfort, 5 ML, 0.17 oz, 1 Pack https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B073R1VT32/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_4FP5QRZDD4GA652ZW71D

If anyone has any words of wisdom or recommendations, I'd greatly appreciate it!

My DS is almost 5 months. He's consistently had issues with eczema, frequent spit-ups, and frequent very liquid stools. The pediatrician has ruled out reflux and since he's gaining weight really well, she's not concerned. She okayed eliminating things from my diet to rule out food sensitivities. I'm coming up on 3 weeks with no dairy, and his eczema seems a lot better, in fact it's almost gone. Yay! But he still has frequent, very loose stools and tons of spit-up. I figured by 5 months he would have grown out of this but doesn't seem like it. He's exclusively breastfed.

I keep feeling guilty because I had to take 2 rounds of antibiotics before he was a month old, one for an infection and one for dental surgery. I'm wondering if that affected his digestive health. The pediatrician has okayed probiotics, but I don't know what's a good brand for babies. I'm wondering if this sounds like a good idea from your experiences, and if so if there's a specific probiotic you'd recommend.

Thank you!
