Oh and we moved any truly dangerous things way up high out of reach- bleach, medicines, cleaners... Cabinet locks are fine but why risk that?

Never had to get oven lock or covers since she's never been interested in them.

Anchor any tall furniture to the walls right away- it's much easier to do it then than after you've put stuff out on them. Also make sure the tv is mounted to the wall or otherwise anchored.

Outlet covers. It's good to get the kind that you don't actually have to remove, just slide over, for the outlets you use a lot, since it's Easy to forget to plug the cover back in (ahem, DH).

You will probably need cabinet locks. Some babies are less curious so you could always wait and just lock anything that she really really can't get into. Type depends on your knobs or handles.

Those were our big things. Everything else we waited to see what she got into before worrying about it. We don't have stairs in our condo but if we did we would have had to hate them immediately since c is obsessed.

All we did was put outlet covers, a gate for the stairs that go down, anchor the bookcases and some elastic bands for "danger" cupboards. I can't imagine what more is necessary.

We have this gate at the top of our stairs.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000XT30G4/ref=pd_aw_sim_75_1?refRID=0J4K83CS3KKXJDW066S5
Installed with this kit since there is wall on one side and banister on the other.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B004CEN62O/ref=pd_aw_sim_75_16?refRID=1JAF1C8PZ55ZQA5FRJSV

I feel like our LO may be less adventurous than others. We haven't done too much baby proofing yet besides the gate and outlet covers!

For medicine, I bought a plastic bin and stored them all under one side of our bathroom, then put a sliding baby lock on that one cabinet, like this: http://www.diapers.com/p/safety-1st-grip-n-go-cabinet-lock-2-ct-6484?site=CA&sku=SF-010&utm_source=Google&utm_medium=cpc_D&utm_campaign=GooglePLA&utm_content=pla&ca_sku=SF-010&ca_gpa=pla&ca_kw=&cvosrc=cse.google.SF-010&cvo_crid=42636320257&kpid=SF-010

Stove knobs we just remove between use, and we bought an oven latch too. http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3749221&cagpspn=plab_6565465&camp=PLAPPCG-_-PID6565465:BRUS&eESource=CAPLA_DF:3749221:TRUS

We installed baby gates the at the top and bottom of the stairs, and you will want to put knob cover/locks on any door leading outside.

We are (hopefully) moving into our first house next month and LO is on the verge of mobility. I want to be proactive about our baby proofing but I only remember the stuff from my childhood! We have some outlet covers and that's it. Recommendations?? Any good med lock boxes?
