@bhbee: That was my first! He was a huge spitter-upper so he couldn’t go a waking hour without a bib. As he got to 6 months and was also teething, the drool + spit up + bib was no bueno. I actually posted here about it!

We ended up liking the Green Sprouts waterproof bibs. They are terry cloth but have a waterproof layer in between so that nothing soaked through to his chest (before that he also had rash on his chest).
The only downfall is that becuase of the waterproof layer you have to hang dry. But we just bought a ton so that we didn’t run out. They come in packs of 10 I think. We got 2-3 packs.

green sprouts Stay-dry Bibs (10 pack) | Ultimate protection from drools & spit ups | Waterproof protection, Adjustable hook-&-loop closure, Machine washable https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000CP2X9O/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_PQUDCb53DGYMV

We liked them so much we got them again for my 2nd who is now 1yo. Luckily he wasn’t a spitter or as much of a drooler but they were still the best even for feeding. He was a milk dribbler :silly:

I use earth mama face balm for drool and also for cold weather/wind. Works really well!

@SweetiePie: I think that constant moisture is probably a major source. It’s drool and she also spits up a ton (both big and small) so I just need to get better about keeping it dry. Any bib brands/styles you really loved?

During the day pat it dry with a soft cloth and try not to rub it. At night put on a layer of lanolin/nipple cream.

@bhbee: cerave cream should help. Also wiping it with a damp wash cloth first and then drying it and applying the cream. How adorable are those cheeks!

Drool rash! We had this with my first.
1) wash with water and dry thoroughly a couple times a day and after bath.
2) thin layer of aquaphor to act as a barrier against the moisture
3) if you’re using bibs a lot (that’s why my first had it, he lived in a bib) change it frequently. The bib gets wet and then there’s a lot of moisture held against his chin.
4) if it gets really bad you can try to put a zinc diaper rash cream (like triple paste or desitin) at bedtime again after drying super well. Or can try hydrocortisone ointment as it is anti inflammatory.

These are tips my ped gave us.

I would thoroughly dry it and put some light Vaseline during the day and then clean and dry thoroughly at night and put some Desitin while she sleeps. The key is to keep dry before putting anything on it. Maybe a different bib material would also help?

That appears to be either a "drool" rash or what is referred to as a teething rash (* My son had it BAD even months before he spouted any teeth!), a minor heat rash, OR a sensitivity/allergy rash (* detergents, new baby washes, and foods did this to DD). It may even be baby eczema.
You could try bacitracin or vaseline with talc-free (* cornstarch) baby powder. If it persists for too long, contact the pediatrician as it may be an allergic response to a stimuli and would need benadryl or a topical steroid.

Help me out ... what would you put on this?

She’s 6m and sits well so I thought it might resolve but no. It comes and goes some but seems more persistent lately. She generally has sensitive skin and i think it’s s combo of major chins plus drool, clothes rubbing, etc. For now I’ve just been using vanicream but it’s not really helping much. It’s not really very visible when she’s sitting up but don’t want it to get too bad. Thanks!
