@agold: Hah! I've heard of a similar game of pick if the face is from labor or well, it wasn't horror movies....it....it was porn....

Your way is probably more dignified.

I think baby showers are hugely boring for guests, particularly the part when the gifts are opened, so I do like to have a game or something to do during that part, otherwise I am socializing and not paying attention to the gift opening.

I like the games where you guess stuff, so it can be stuff in a bag that you have the feel to determine what it is, or what's in the baby bag with the stuff going to the mom to be at the end of it.

@KT326: yep I’ve been to tons of showers with this game and it’s always a hit with the mom to be and friends as well as older ladies/grandmas. It’s super easy to do. Having guests write a little note of advice or wishes for baby in a little book is nice to look back on later. I’m all about minimal/no games!

I've done a "what's in your purse" game. Each guest got a sheet of paper with various items listed on it. Each item had a point value. The person with the most points won the prize.

If you google "baby shower game what's in your purse" I'm sure you can find a cute printable.

I was just at a similar baby shower thrown by my best friend. Two paper games - one with animals listed and you had to pick the names of the baby animals. It was actually funny to do and funny to have the answers read. Then another was a print out of faces - you pick if the face is from a horror movie or labor. Again, funny. But I am also really a fan of no games at all. Have a card to write "wishes for baby." Then the shower timing goes like: 1 hour mingling, eating at second hour, present opening at third hour. Three hours max and out the door.

Baby shower mad libs! I found a template online and it’s so easy and makes people laugh and the mom to be isn’t even really involved.

My sil was the same as your friend. She said some activities since that’s what people expected but nothing overly cheesy or putting attention on her.

We did decorating onesies and hung them to dry on a string with clothes pins as decoration.

We put 10-15 items in a diaper bag and had everyone guess what was inside. Easy and no embarrassment.

I think we gave a random door prize to whoever had their bday closest to due date.

There was one more thing but I can’t remember. I’ll have to find it.

ETA: it was a memory game. I laid a bunch of baby items on a table but didn’t say why or what it was. Later we gave out cards and people wrote down what they remembered.
If there was a tie we asked them a trivia question about her or the couple (it was co-Ed party). Like when her bday was or their anniversary date.

I really enjoy decorating onsies. It's an easy and fun activity. I've also been to several showers without games. As an introvert who knew no one at some of these parties, they were more enjoyable than the parties with lots of games. So it's fine to skip the games if you wish.

@annem1990: I think if you have a range of things people wont feel like they have been put on the spot. If your guests like DIY then a onesie decorating station? I've also seen wood block decorating.
Funny messages on a diaper actually wont be too much pressure since diapers are thrown out after use anyway

I always like games that are on paper: like gift bingo, price is right type games, word games, etc. No one is ever on the spot, but they provide an activity to take up some time.

Another easy game is "Butts up". You just roll a bunch of those plastic babies, and whoever gets the most that are butts up wins. Very low key.

I’m hosting a shower for a friend in a couple of weeks. She’s having a girl. I’m stumped on ideas for little activities to have. I know the Mama-to-be is not a fan of games or any attention on her really. Opening gifts will be more than enough eyes on her.

I do want something for people to do while they mingle. It’ll only be 10-12 women and I’m a little worried about entertaining everyone for a few hours. I also don’t want it to be cheesy or put people on the spot (like “write something funny on a diaper) type activities. I know I’m being high maintenance :silly: Anyone seen anything cute?!?!
