@smurfette: I actually was just thrown a brunch baby shower and this is what we had, if it helps you any:

- waffle triangles (with syrup, fresh berries, nutella, and whipped cream to top them off with)
- candied bacon
- sausage links
- yogurt parfaits
- salad
- mini cucumber sandwiches
- 2 drinks (1 flavored champagne and another mixed juice blend)
(oh I know there was more food but I can somehow only remember what ended up on my plate)

And for dessert we had:
- cake pops
- mini cheesecakes
- decorated cookies

It was really fabulous. I definitely recommend a brunch shower. Hoping your goes great!

@Smurfette: pound cake skewers sound delish! I used vanilla yogurt - you'll want it to be sweetened so plain sweetened or vanilla are my suggestions. Oh and I used the stuff with fat and sugar - no skimping :)

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: Not sure if mine is the same as @Smurfette: 's casserole recipe but mine is:

6 eggs beaten
6 slices of bread (torn into small pieces - I like to use slightly stale bread)
1 # browned breakfast sausage
2 Cups cheddar
2 Cups Milk
1 tsp dried mustard

Mix together and bake at 350 for 45 mins (or until set and golden brown on top)...

You could throw in peppers, onions, seasoning, anything you want really!

I like the parfait idea too - or an oatmeal bar (can make it in the crock pot to be easy).

Could also get quiche's from costco (I think they have the pre-made mini ones) and instead of an egg based breakfast casserole you could do a sweet one that is like french toast casserole? I have a recipe at home if you are interested. Its easy (throw everything together the night before style) and is based around those yummy sweet hawaiian rolls from the grocery store.

MMM...totally craving brunch now....

@Foodnerd81: @Mrs. Lemon-Lime: Sausage cheese balls

3 cups Bisquick
4 cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese
1 pkg. (16 oz.) sausage (or Turkey) (like the Jimmy Dean rolls, usually in the lunch meat section of the grocery store, not deli)
1/2 cup milk

Mix all together. Then roll into balls. Bake at 350 for about 20-25 minutes or until sausage is cooked.

you can make ahead and freeze them and then defrost and cook when you need them.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: waiting to get the breakfast casserole from my Mom. I will post when I get it.

@regberadaisy: I like that idea.
@lawbee11: We do! Those are always yummy.
@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: A salad would work too. The MTB is super healthy.

@Mrsjets: Do you use regular plain yogurt? I am not a yogurt person, so I don't know much about parfaits?

I like the grit bar idea and also think the yogurt parfaits would look nice and appreciate that they can be made ahead. I also think bacon is great, but unless you are sending your husband to the whole foods breakfast bar (or your equivalent option) that morning, frying or baking bacon is a messy smelly event. All that said, I would axe either the mini muffins or the cinnamon rolls (both sweets) and add a green salad.

Do you have a Costco membership? My mom's friend threw me a baby shower and made these and they were soooo yummy!! Everyone was raving about them, and she secretly told me they're from Costco, so I went out and bought some for myself! Super easy--just bake in the oven. I don't know if they are brunch-y enough, though?

I don't think you need anything else! It sounds delicious.

One thing I did for a baby shower that allowed me to cook ahead was a grits bar. Grits went in a slow cooker to stay warm, and then there was bacon, cheese, green onions, tomatoes, etc. to go on top. It was a hit!

I am throwing a baby shower for a good friend in two weeks. It is at 11am. This is what I was thinking for food thoughts?

Breakfast casserole
Fruit
Mini Cinnamon Rolls
Sausage Cheese Balls
Mini Muffins
Drinks:
Mimosa Bar
Juices - OJ, Cranberry, Pomegranate
Fruit to garnish
Champagne/Sparking Cider for the Mom to be
Water
Sweet Tea

I feel like I need something else for food. I want something else easy since I am doing everything myself and I have to work on Friday, so I will be getting everything ready Friday night/Saturday morning. Any ideas?
