For my shower with Liam, we used Tiny Prints. For my sprinkle for baby 2, we are using Paperless Post.

Bumping this. Need to get invitations for a baby shower I'm planning. I might be wanting to do the money saving print at home invitation kits. Or paying $$ to have someone on Esty design it and then I can print it myself. They can also make party signs and favor to match.

Just wondering will these invitations and party favor kit be worth it? Would I rather save the money to put towards other baby shower costs.

@stratosphere: My mom had them printed at a local shop. But I did Xander's birthday invitations through Etsy and had them printed at mpix.com (5x7) and they came out BEAUTIFUL. Nice thick cardstock with bright vibrant colors! I was really happy with the result!

For our brother and sister-in-law's shower a few years ago my husband designed their invite in Illustrator using some cool free fonts and then sent the file to a local letterpress shop to have a plate made from it. Then he rented some time on the antique presses at our local book-making collective and hand letterpressed all the shower invites with a custom blended orange ink (boy-girl twins). They looked amazing and were pretty cheap (the cost of ink, press time, $30 for the plate, and heavy rag paper). Bro and sis-in-law did not appreciate them nearly so much as they merited though. :( Some folks just aren't that into paper arts!

Now I'm pregnant many years later and trying to talk DH into doing our baby shower invite on the letterpress! He is much busier these days (used to work for himself, now for a big company) and sadly I don't think it's going to happen. :(

@Adira: good idea! Where did you have them printed? Our printer at home would look cheap...even on nice cardstock! Did you go to Kinko's or someplace with a laser printer or a professional offset printer?

I am co-hosting a shower coming up and we just got the invites from Paper by Paperless Post. The mom-to-be fell in love with a design on there. I found it very easy to use and customize the design and the invites arrived quickly and the quality is wonderful. Very fancy with lined envelopes and everything. Glad we're all splitting the cost though as it was pricey!

I used Tinyprints for holiday cards for the past two years in a row and I must say their quality and service really declined on this last order, while their prices have gone up! My order was shipped so late it arrived after Christmas and I ordered on Dec 6th!!! The printing inks weren't as vibrant/professional looking as the previous year either and the card stock seemed flimsier even though the price was higher (though that was all moot as we didn't send half the cards in any case as it was New Years by the time we got them and it was too embarrassing sending a custom Christmas themed card so late). So be careful with Tinyprints if you use them and give yourself an extra few weeks to account for their flakiness.

+1 to @Adira's comment. My mom loves to do it this way, too! Linen card stock makes everything look amazing! :) And Etsy has some great and affordable designs.

My shower invites were stamped with the details written in. They were super cute.

I made little four-page book invites for my sisters fairy tale themed shower. We came up with a little rhyme for the first few pages and the last page was the details. Everything was just done with a nice font and I backed each page with a fun printed cardstock.

I got a free download from this site. Then I printed them on white cardstock and put them on top of blue cardstock. I found that at Walmart I could buy envelopes that would fit 4x6 or 5x7 invites.

I'm planning a shower for a friend and need to get invitations. I made my own wedding invitations (they were pretty simple) so I'm not adverse to DIY.

Where did you get shower invitations from? Etsy? Tiny Prints/Minted/Etc? Did you DIY them? Feel free to post links/pics!

Thanks!
