My Mom has signed to the babies since they were born. I started with simple words at 6 months. The twins are 15 months and they understand my signs (shake their heads yes and no). They have used finished since about 8 months when they are done eating. With my 1st I used a book and taught him myself. With my 2nd we used the Signing Times DVDs. I started showing him hand over hand around 10.5 months and he started doing more right away after that. I think it's the easiest to understand because it's an instant reward for a behavior. He is almost 13 months and he will do more, all done, please and milk. I try to choose just a couple to focus on and start doing hand over hand.
