I started around 6 months with "more, water, all done, and milk". I haven't been consistent with it though.

We started the signing time DVD's at about 5 months, they love it. My Mom has signed to the babies since they were born. I started with simple words at 6 months. The twins are 15 months and they understand my signs (shake their heads yes and no). They have used finished since about 8 months when they are done eating. My son uses banana and it is so cute!

oooo good points. I don't want to do a whole lot of them, just a few...i bet i can look them up on youtube, too. She recognizes things in general...like if we hold a bottle in front of her, she opens her mouth and reaches towards it.

I started at 6 months with both of my kids. With my 1st I used a book and taught him myself. With my 2nd we used the Signing Times DVDs. It took a few months though before they would sign back to me.
As others have mentioned good ones to start with are "more" "milk" "drink" "eat"

We want to start soon. We tried to get a small group together so we could have a woman come in and teach all of us and our babes, but it fell through. So now I'm thinking of getting the Signing Time DVDs.

I started around 5 months or so but only do a few words - all done , milk, more, and then once we started solids, eat. He just signed back for the first time recently around 10.5 m

I always signed the words when I used them. I started showing him hand over hand around 10.5 months and he started doing more right away after that. I think it's the easiest to understand because it's an instant reward for a behavior. He is almost 13 months and he will do more, all done, please and milk. I try to choose just a couple to focus on and start doing hand over hand. But continue using signs for everything else.

I started around 8 months and it only took her a few days to learn "more", then we moved on the "milk". She now knows "water" as well, and we are working on "please", but we have been slacking with teaching her new signs.

My Wonder Week app says that E will begin to understand words soon! And I thought it'd be neat to communicate with her a little bit. Especially after meals. I was watching The Little Couple and the boy was taught "ready" by putting his hands together, which I thought was a good one.

When did you start?

What words did you start with?

E is only 6 months old
