Just ordered a new swaddle so interested to see if there’s hope? lol but i don’t know if it’s the swaddle. Praying she does so well with family( my parents and sister) at night!

I also think she might just do better with other people when you're not home! For example, my two kids both co-slept with us from birth pretty much; always needed to be held/nursed/binky for naps. But they also attended daycare at young ages (10 and 6 months) and never had any issues napping there!

Maybe you can just start some form of sleep training now in the crib & just make sure family members follow it closely when it's their turns?

I think anyone who offers to stay with a three month old probably knows what they are in for, right? Just plan on getting your sister a great thank you present 😆

How do you feel about using a light muslin blanket of it's tucked in and below the waist? You can move baby closer to the end of the bed, then stretch the blanket over them up to their waist, tucking it all the way under the sides and bottom of the mattress. Sometimes this provides enough light pressure to help baby settle.

My second daughter was a really hard-to-settle nighttime sleeper. We left her with my parents for a couple nights when she was around that age because I was losing it with sleep deprivation and was desperate for some help. I had no idea how they'd settle her, or if any of it would work out because it had been such a mess at home...but when they offered me a night off, I couldn't pass it up! My daughter was totally different at bedtime for them than she was for me. I don't remember the details of how they worked it out, but it was okay. I was really stressed about it ahead of time, but my mom was so reassuring - she reminded me that they could get through anything for a couple nights, and even if they were up most of the night, they could take shifts or catch up on sleep again later when they sent the baby home again.

I hope you enjoy your time away!!

@JJ2626: i know! going away when she’s three months isn’t so ideal but we need a break lol and this was the best time for dh and i.

We didn’t co sleep for our first years ago and he wasn’t in his crib either but it all worked out.

I’m hoping the new swaddle works? We did not want to co sleep but i was desperate and didn’t want her crying so young

This is tough! And why my in laws wouldn’t watch LO until she slept through the night! I’d try to get her as used to the PNP as possible at home. I know she’s too little to really sleep train but can you just force her to sleep in the PNP and just get up and comfort her as needed and then expect family to do the same? We never coslept though so we had to just accept her not being as settled at night when she was tiny.

@bhbee: thanks for replying ☺️

Yeas it’s my sister and we will definitely speak with her about the options. Couch is no no and they wouldn’t be down there anyway.

I ordered the swaddle up so hoping that helps baby? She’s been using the woombie at napa d is fine but only does 30mins in the crib. She won’t settle at night.

So i’ll try the pack n play again at night

This is a tough one ... my younger two were mostly co sleeping at that age (usually after first wakeup) and I wouldn’t have known how to fix it quickly. I think there’s a chance with new people the baby will act differently and go down more easily but it’s hard to know. You could try the pack n play near you so you can sing and pat maybe without picking up?

Also I think you should be prepared that co sleeping could happen. Especially as people could get desperate if it doesn’t go well. So I’d print out the safe cosleeping rules and go over them to prevent things like sleeping with baby on couch, sleeping with a bunch of bedding, sleeping after smoking or drinking, etc. Maybe have a plan for try this and this first, but have a backup plan. So many people accidentally up their sids risk by getting desperate and exhausted and falling asleep with baby on the couch.

Dh and I are going away w/out kids for 4 days. Newborn (almost 3 months) will be staying home w/ family.

She currently sleeps in the bed at night w/ us and naps in her crib in her room during the day. She won’t settle down to sleep in crib at night.

We don’t want her sleeping in the bed with family.

How can i get her in her crib at night before we leave or the pack n play in our room?
