@wheres_c: Florida Keys. We're landing in Miami if you happen to live anywhere around there. Thanks for the offer!
@Mrs. High Heels: Nope. The cottage owners have a high chair, but no crib.

@skibobrown: when we vacayed we mostly stayed at hotels, and all the hotels we stayed at had cribs available for use... so we just used the hotel crib and brought our own sheets. do you know if the cottage you'll be staying at has cribs available for use? maybe call and find out if that's an option for you...

@skibobrown: yeah, same with MerryC - my inlaws bought a basic Graco one at Walmart for $50 for when we visited them last summer.

@MerryC: Really? 50?! I guess we'll have to go that route. That is way cheaper than the rental would have been, even before delivery fees. I don't mind co-sleeping, but I worry about what will happen during the 1st few hours of the night when DD is asleep, but we're not in bed yet. She might scoot herself off the bed. @Weagle: She is most definitely mobile these days, so the pallet wouldn't work.

I'd call your airline. Some allow PNPs as free baggage like strollers.

Hmm...if you're opposed to getting a travel crib (there are a few out there less than 10lbs) then maybe she can sleep on the bed and you can purchase toddler rails (or whatever they're called?

P.S. we are vacationing in Florida next week too! I'm jealous that your DD gets her own room...we will either be sharing a room or sleeping in the living room :S

I would either get a cheap PNP when you get there or make a pallet on the floor if your LO isn't mobile yet.

we keep packnplays at my parents house, which is where we travel most often. but when we're staying in a hotel or something, we just co-sleep for overnights, and then take walks with the ergos or car rides for naps.

could you buy a new cheap packnplay when you get there, or have it delivered the first day you're there? Target has a cosco one for $50.

we also have these little brica travel bassinets, which fold up really nice, but LO would only fit if pretty young or petite.

We're going on vacation to Florida next week. Yay! However, we still don't have anything figured out for where DD is going to sleep in our rental cottage. We're renting a 2-bedroom house, so she will have her own room, but we are still trying to sort out what will play the role of her crib. We own a Pack N Play, but the darn thing is so heavy that I'm not sure how we would bring it on the airplane without paying massive checked baggage fees. I also just checked with a rental company, but they are charging a huge amount to deliver a rented Pack N Play. We could essentially buy a new one for free for less than the rental fee.

I would appreciate any insight into portable crib arrangements or other baby sleep arrangements for trips away from home from any seasoned travelers. Thanks!
