@blackbird: try a crib wedge if he doesn't like to lay on his belly.

@twodoghouse: I imagine the transition isn't helping, too! I'm hoping he takes to tummy sleeping well!!

@blackbird: My kids both had reflux and still did ok sleeping flat (at least until we got into solids and then we had all sorts of issues). We held them upright after their bedtime feeding for 15-20 min and that seemed to do the trick. They were happier once they could easily get to their tummies, though.

Jokes on me. Ped says he's got reflux and is probably unhappy flat, but gave me the go ahead to let him tummy sleep since he's rolling so we're gonna try that!

I think some people had success mimicking an inclined thing in the crib by putting rolled up towels underneath the sheets or something? Or do you have a crib wedge?

My baby defied all norms and did not like swing or RNP so I never went through this!

Our transition wasn't too bad. Alice slept in the swing at night (not turned on, so at least she wasn't used to motion). We started by putting the kids down in their cribs. After the first wake up, if she wouldn't go back down easily, we'd put her back into the swing. Eventually she was sleeping better in the crib and her first wake up was later and later and she'd go down more easily in the crib. The transition took a week, although for months after we'd still put them in the swing (and RNP for Blake) at their last wake up because it was the only way we could get them to sleep past 5 am. Blake had been sleeping in a PNP bassinet so was used to sleeping flat so the transition to his crib was simple. They napped in the RNP and swing for a long time (until 7.5 months and we were having to 5 pt harness them in to keep them from climbing out) and that transition was AWFUL. I say do it now while he's still relatively flexible and not too set in his ways!

DS always slept flat on his back so can't help you there. But I agree doing it now will be easier for you.

No experience, but I agree with your thinking to do this now and be tired at home instead of after you return to work. Good luck!!

Ugh we are planning to do the RNP to crib transition this weekend and I'm dreading it. I'm planning to elevate the crib mattress a bit, but she does have reflux.

It's taken about 3 weeks- but we also swaddle weaned and were out of town for a week. T is 4.5 mo and slept 9 hours straight in her crib last night, 3rd night in a row it's been going well.

T was in a rock n play for 10 weeks. Since he doesn't have reflux, I figured I am better off moving him to a pack n play now, rather than later. It's easier to be tired while I'm home versus when I go to work in a month, right? And get him used to it? And then hopefully the crib is an easier transition in a few months

Well, he went from waking up 1-2x/night to 4 and 5. Anybody have experience with how long it took your LO to get used to this? I figure at least a week?....he naps in a swing during the day, so he has minimal experience sleeping flat on his back (unless we fall asleep nursing, then it's until whenever I wake up and move him)

I think he's also hitting a WW early-cluster feeding, etc.
