Yep! Right around 11 months he didn't want to take bottles anymore. It was great not having to struggle with transitioning him to a cup! We switched to straw cups, sippies, and just regular open cups (he actually drank best from these).

LO 2 was done with bottles at 10.5 months and she started drinking out of a straw cup with meals.

If he is eating normal 11-mo-sized meals, 18-20 ounces of milk is probably way too much. At that point, my DD was only getting about 9-12 ounces a day of BM.

G has started doing the same thing! She still wants her bottle in the morning and before bed, but had a grand total of 3 (!!!) oz of formula at daycare yesterday. She drinks water like a fish, so I'm not terribly worried, but I think, like you, we are going to start transitioning to WCM earlier rather than later because she's just not into the bottles as much anymore.

Glad it's not just G, I was starting to worry!

@Pepper: We struggle with her drinking too! She uses only sippy cups during the day and a bottle before bed/in the morning. Each only has 4oz and she fights the day time ones! I think she is eating a lot of food and doesn't have a need for the milk anymore.

Glad he takes water, we can't get her to drink that either. I'm constantly worried about her liquid intake but she seems fine!

@Pepper: Yep! Her bday was a Tues and then Friday (after the horrible shots) we went cold turkey with bottles. She did great. Just did breakfast when she first woke up. I will say that she started doing better with milk when we gave a sippy verses a straw cup. She will still at times sit and drink out if it like it is a bottle, will down it. But now we are starting to go to a harder spout cup so she doesn't do it as much.

Dd is 9 months and used to take 4x7oz but lately will drink 4 oz then decide she's done . The only bottle she will down a full 8 is the one right before bed. These days she only gets 20oz but she's eating a lot more solids, drinking water with meals so I'm thinking it's a natural progression!

Lo started wanting bottles less and less and we almost completely weaned her from them in a couple weeks I think, and I believe we could have done it quicker if we wanted to. Sounds normal to me!

@swedishfish: Yeah we play that game. "I'm now done drinking this, so I'm going to smash it onto the floor." I may try three 8 oz bottles! Right now he won't finish an 8 oz, but maybe he will if he's only getting three.

@blackbird: Hoping it'll be easy for us, too!

@Smurfette: So would she just drink 2 bottles a day then? 1 in the morning and 1 at night? I feel like that's basically what he's headed towards.

Yep! R dropped her day time bottles around 11.5 months. She would usually always take her morning but was iffy on night time.

@Pepper: we were having a similar problem last month so we switched R to 3 bottles of 8 oz. each. It's helped. She also gets a sippy with water with each meal. I'm not too worried about switching her to the sippy fulltime because she does well with it during meals...except when she takes a few sips and then throws it on the ground.

E really cut down on her formula intake close to a year. It was actually quite easy to move her just to a sippy because of that!!

LO is 11 months, and he hasn't really been wanting his bottles recently! He gets four 6-7 oz bottles a day. He drinks his first one in the morning without issue. The other 3 are a struggle to get him to finish. He's constantly dropping it or tossing it aside to go crawl somewhere. He usually ends up only drinking about 18-20 oz a day because of this.

I started introducing a little bit of WCM in a sippy for breakfast, and he gets water at lunch and dinner, so I think he's drinking enough fluids... I'm just not sure if it's a problem that he's uninterested in bottles recently! Anyone else go through this?
