Yay! That's great news!

There are lots of things that can cause nursing strikes but usually if you can stick it out bebes will resume nursing in a few days or sometimes as long as a few weeks. It's rare for an infant under one to self wean, although many times these strikes can be interpreted as such.

I felt like everytime he got teeth, I needed to teach him how to relatch. Now he is getting molars, but we are working on weaning anyways. Keep up the good work mama (I always found half asleep sessions were the best)!

Thanks! Glad to know I'm not alone, at least. I'll keep offering and pumping for now, as I do really enjoy breastfeeding. Her brother should keep some milk flowing. She's not as tentative with the bottle the last few days, and has rooted on my chest a couple of times today, so hopefully she'll come around before too long.

My girls often didn't want to nurse while cutting the first few teeth, I think the sucking hurt. But then they were back to nursing normally.

It happened for me. I kept offering, but she kept refusing, so I pumped until she was 10 months.

DS didn't want ANYTHING when he was teething. He would accept a mesh teether with frozen mangoes and bananas but did not want a bottle or boob. It was totally nerve-wracking, I was so scared he was going to dehydrate (it was summer) I called the pediatrician.
I work full time so I just pumped like crazy when I got home since I was pumping at work anyway but it was really hard.

My local la leche league told me that this happens but if you tough it out they usually want to nurse again after a few days to a week.
If you are done, it is cool to be done, but if you are enjoying breastfeeding you don't have to give up yet.

So my 4.5 month old daughter got her two bottom teeth last week. Since the first one popped through, she won't nurse. She'll put her mouth on the breast if I offer, but it's like she forgot how to latch! She's been a champion nurser since the day she was born and almost always nursed to sleep for every nap and bedtime. Has this happened to anyone else? Is there anything I can do to encourage her to latch again? Once the pain of these two teeth subsides, is there any hope that she'll want to nurse again, or do you think she's done forever? I'm so sad.

Both of my kids are mostly bottle fed, so it's not the end of the world, but I can definitely tell my (already low) supply has dropped over the week. I'm just trying to pump a few times a day for her, so she still gets a little breastmilk.
