I only got one birthday gift this year, from my MIL. My family sort of sucks at bday gifts, so it's not a big deal, but still. And DH got me a big Christmas gift (Canon Rebel!!) and we are going on a big vacation this month, so we agreed not physical gifts. For Christmas this year my BIL got me a GC to baby Gap, but that might be used for maternity clothes for me, which I think it is fair. </p> <p>I think you should treat the GC as money to spend on yourself-- like, OK you have to spend $50 less of your money on diapers, which means you get $50 to buy whatever you want.</p> <p>ETA: Oh-- and 30 was one of my best years! Actually, so far, my 30s have been really great. Other than the fact that my metabolism slowed down, I would say my 30s have been even better than my 20s! DH gives me gifts for my b-day, but for the past few years they have been furniture pieces that we needed and that I picked out/bought. :) At Christmas I asked him to get me something a little more frivolous and fun. He used to be really good at that type of gift, but once we moved, I realized it was his buddy who was the one who was good at buying gifts for his girlfriend! When I was pregnant I didn't mind- I welcomed it. But now that I'm a mom I like my own gifts too :)</p> <p>I got a gift certificate for diapers from my mom and some owl decor for the baby's room for my past birthday. I was grateful for the diaper certificate cause diapers add up so that was nice but I still felt just a tiny little bit sad ;)</p> <p>how about you? Do you mind getting baby gifts for your birthday?
