Then I would de-latch him and put him on the floor a foot away from me. After a moment, I'd latch him on again with a "If you want your milk, no biting." He quickly learned and did it on purpose maybe twice total? </p> <p>Sometimes when he was teething he'd sort of bite/scrape by accident but would quickly stick out his tongue if I de-latched him to show how he'd have good nursing form. Luckily after a few times RJ stopped doing it for the most part. But by then my nipples were so toughened up, it was mostly just a shock. Like everyone else, I simply said, "No biting", unlatched her for a couple seconds and then gave her the nipple again. She tried it again a couple minutes later and same routine. She didn't try again for almost two months, I think she was just curious now that she had both top and bottom teeth. Same routine and she's hasn't tried since. But when they're like, "hey, look what these things can do", and they bite hard, you're supposed to de-latch (finger in the corner of their mouth, so they don't rip your nipple off, lol) give a firm, NO, and then resume feeding. She would be startled by the sound and de-latch. After a few times she completely stopped the biting. They can't suck and bite at the same time so the biting is purely out of curiosity. I heard it worked for others too. I think they say that when they do it purposely, you're supposed to ignore it. BUT that's frigging hard. Every time she bit it was like an electric shock! I think the books ("they") say something like, tell them NO, and take the boob away.- if they're doing it on purpose. Other than that, what can you do when it's accidentally? Just try not to react, he might see the reaction- even from an accidental bite, and like your reaction so he'll do it again. I dunno, she only bit twice, so I've no experience to advise from, I guess.
