Until they are six months rectal temps are really far and away the most accurate. I was terrified the first time we did it... But she didn't even notice. I really like that the probe is so short so it's impossible to stick it in too far. I always do a rectal reading and this has a little bump on the stick so you dont put it in too far. It is super quick if you do it up the bum. And you can set it for whichever way you take the temp ( bum, armpit, mouth) so it has the most accurate reading possible. But the one time we tried to use it, she was crying so loud we couldn't hear it beep when it was done. We just did it under her arms that time. I can't imagine how she would have reacted if we did rectal.</p> <p>I just want to be prepared when she has her two month shots in three weeks. </p>
