I never thought I'd pay that much for baby shoes either but after lots of searching I only found toms and stride rite in her huge baby feet size that has a soft sole. Most kids my los feet size are already walking and can have a hard sole. And I liked toms much better.... You are really buying two pairs of shoes and doing good for others, and stride rites are all very girly and I felt like they wouldn't match all of her outfits. Lo has high tops and I never considered them fashionable (though she does get tons of compliments on them) and they're great for pre/early walkers because of the soft sole and the high top gives their foot good support.
