Baby's Age: 9 weeks

Weight: 12 and a half pounds as of last Friday (his birth weight was 7 lb 6 oz so he's blown up, lol)

Baby's Milestones: He "talks" to himself in the mirror, lol, and I love it. When I shower I put him in a bouncer in front of the mirror in the bathroom and he sits there staring at himself babbling. He also sucks on his hands a lot and I can finally soothe him to some extent just by talking to him so I don't have to pick him up right away (if I'm doing the dishes or working out or something).

Challenges: Naps. He sleeps great at night but there's still ABSOLUTELY no rhyme or reason to his daytime naps and it's obnoxious. Also he has started to fuss just to get picked up, not because he actually needs anything. His bottom lip starts to quiver and then he lets out the most fake cries ever! That's the worst especially when I'm mid-workout!

Sleep: He slept for 9 pm to 5 am the other night without waking up once, which is HUGE! But it hasn't happened since, lol. Usually he falls asleep downstairs with us around 830, then we all go to bed at about 10 (he sleeps in a bassinet) and he usually wakes up around 3 to eat, then he gets up again around 6 and I just pull him into bed with me to snuggle until we get up at 7.

Post-Partum Weight: I'm actually only a few pounds away from my pre-pregnancy WEIGHT but I have a long way to go before I get my body back to how I want it since I had so much muscle pre-pregnancy and that's all gone now, lol. I'll probably try to lose an additional 10 pounds and then gain that back in muscle over time.

Post-partum Milestones: Ummm...nothing exciting. My life got back to normal pretty quickly, in all honesty. I'm a Discovery Toys consultant and I hosted my first party since NavyBaby was born on Sunday!! So, I guess that's a pretty good milestone!

Baby's age: 19 days old

Weight: 9.2 lbs (i got on the balance with and without baby to see) she was 7 lbs 14oz, then7 lbs 10oz when the nurse came to check 2 days after we got home. So ya, I have a healthy baby!

Milestones: Tears started coming in (which hurts my heart even more) she smiles and started making some baby noises.

Challenges: burping. this child does not want to burp. She does so almost 1 hour later and always results in spit up. She drinks A LOT so I hope the burping will get a little better

Sleep: She was originally sleeping 3 hours at a time, but for the last couple of days has been wide awake from 2-4, and crying when i put her in the bassinette. I'm starting to think she doesn't like it...

Postpartum weight: I lost all my baby weight and even more. I'm under the weight I was when I got pregnant with my first, but hoping to lose another 20 lbs.

Postpartum milestones: Getting the hang of having two kids and the routine. Thank goodness for the hubs though!

@Mrsdaredevil: I am also so disappointed that my wardrobe is so limited because of breastfeeding! My sister and I were at target the other day and I saw the cutest dress that I couldn't wear and I made her try it on! I love wearing dresses in the summer but I'm stuck wearing tees and shorts or dresses with buttons :(.

Baby's Age: 3 weeks today!

Weight: I have no idea. She was weighed at 1 week and was at her birth weight exactly (7 lbs, 13 oz). I am guessing she now weighs 8-9 lbs?

Baby's Milestones: She has been able to soothe herself to sleep twice so far (which is huge for us--before we had to put her down when she was sound asleep). She also discovered the mirror across from her car seat in the car, and she loves to stare at herself during car rides. I swear she is so into looking at herself she doesn't even blink! I think it's the perfect distance away for her to focus really well. We have also been having her sleep in her crib in her own room for the past three nights. She hated the dang bassinet!

Challenges: 1) nighttime sleep 2) fussing when she is not being held. She is doing "okay" for nighttime sleep. She has been sleeping in 2-3 hour stretches, but the hardest part is getting her to go back down after a feeding. Sometimes after I feed her she is so alert, she won't go back down for at least an hour. When she is awake during the day, she fusses if she is not being held. I can get a good 10 minutes out of her in the bouncy seat or swing where she will just look around and be content, but after that she gets bored and screams and wails until someone picks her up.

Sleep: sleeps ALL DAY during the day. She sleeps in her bouncy seat, in the swing, on walks, in the car, when she is being held, etc. I wonder if that's why she doesn't sleep for long stretches at night? I think she still may have her days and nights confused. I don't know if I should start trying to come up with some napping schedule or not... cuz right now she just sleeps constantly (daytime).

Post-Partum Weight: I have 7 lbs to lose.

Post-partum Milestones: Around 18 days pp I started to feel completely pain-free. Up until this point my stitches were still uncomfortable and I had a lot of soreness where my epidural was placed. Now, however, I feel wonderful and back to my old self.

My doctor saw me at 2 weeks pp just to check me for PPD and make sure I was healing okay. It was great to see her and chat about the delivery. Apparently, she said there was a moment where she thought the baby wasn't coming out vaginally and she was going to have to give me a C-section because baby was sunny side up. She told me she said a silent prayer and asked God to help the baby out, and sure enough, I was able to push her out! I was so unaware of this during labor... I am glad she waited til later to tell me!

Anyone else struggling with finding clothes to wear because of nursing? I feel like my wardrobe is so limited because I am nursing so often. I mean, the only way I can wear a normal T-shirt or a dress is if I take it completely off to breastfeed. Am I going to have to live in nursing camis and cardigans the ENTIRE time I breastfeed?

@winniebee: My DD gets a lot of naps in people's arms too. We constantly have people over, and people want to pick her up even if she is sound asleep in her crib! UGH! Yesterday my MIL watched her for 2 hours while I ran to Target, and I specifically asked her to put DD in her crib if she fell asleep. Of course, she was asleep the entire 2 hours I was gone and MIL never put her down. Why? I asked. "Cuz she just looked so comfortable," my ML said. I was so irritated! lol

Baby's Age: 4 weeks 5 days

Weight: not sure. he was born 7lb 12 oz, and at his 2 week check he was 8lb 4oz. i'm guessing he's well over 9, closer to 10lbs. i wish i could just take him and weigh him lol

Milestones: he's starting to smile and he's doing really good holding his head up and trying to pull himself forward when we do tummy time. i think he's starting to notice his hands because i've caught him put them in his mouth a few times.

Challenges: fussiness! we changed his formula because he was super gassy and fussy. it's gotten much better. the last couple days have been rough again, seems to always want to eat. he was eating 4oz every 2 1/2-3 hours, but seemed to get hungry closer to 2 hours. made a 5oz bottle today for him and he took almost 4 1/2 oz, so we may not have been feeding him enough. we'll see.

Sleep: we just started swaddling again to try to get him out of sleeping in his car seat! it was the only place that he would sleep at night, or on my chest or in my arms, which made DH(and me!) super paranoid that i would hurt him if/when i would fall asleep. he's slept the last 2 nights pretty well being swaddled, so we hope it continues.

Post partum weight: i gained 40lbs during pregnancy and i am down 32lbs. my hips are so much wider, which is frustrating since i didn't even birth him through them! lol so i've got 8lbs to go from pregnancy, but i had gained almost 15lbs from my wedding last may to when i got pregnant. joined weight watchers today, so hoping that helps.

Post partum milestones: my engagement ring is back on! i had to take my rings off thanksgiving week because i had started to swell early and a lot! my wedding band is ever so close to going on without wanting to cut off my finger! :o)

Baby's Age: 10 weeks

Weight: 10.10 oz as of Friday at her 2 mth checkup

Milestones: Sucks on her hands like a champ and smiles like crazy now.

Challenges: When she gets overtired and starts to cry/fuss.

Sleep: Sleeping through the night (for 3 weeks now!)- she goes to bed around 9p and wakes up around 5 am.

Post partum weight: 3 pounds to go- too bad my body doesn't look the same pre-preg.

Post partum milestones: I'm at the end of my maternity leave-back to work on Wednesday :(

Baby's Age: 2.5 weeks (18 days)

Weight: Born at 5lbs 5oz. At his 12 day checkup 6 days ago he was 5 lbs 9.5 oz, so I would say he's probably 6 lbs now.

Milestones: Fits in newborn clothes!

Challenges: Nights. He finally has accepted the swaddle and is sleeping for a few good stretches at night. He is a good nurser during the day but at night is just not as good (attributable to sleepiness?) I want to get him to eat more during the night so that he sleeps better.

Sleep: Finally sleeping for two 3 hour stretches at night (the first two stretches). The last stretch he freaks out in the swaddle and then cries when I put him down and usually only sleeps another 2 after he finally settles. Daytime napping is really random. We have had LOTS of visitors (maybe all but two days) and so he tends to nap in peoples arms - including my husband - I know it's a bad habit, but when DH is home I feel bad telling him to put him down.

Post partum weight: Have lost about 17 (at my 2 wk post partum visit - we don't own a scale). At least 13 more to go and 17 if I want to get to my ideal weight.

Post partum milestones: Feeling like I kind of have the hang of this mom thing!

Baby's Age: 5 weeks 1 day!

weight: Born at 7lbs 8oz. She was 10lbs 2oz on Wednesday. If I had to guess I would say at least 10lbs 7oz today.

Milestones: found her hands and wants to suck her while fist! Not sure if we want to encourage it or not. She has great leg strength already and has "stood" on my tummy a few times. GOt a few real smiles! :

Challenges: Fussiness!!! Attributed to gassiness And/or colicky. Not sure if she is indeed colicky because -knock on wood- last couple days she has been a lot better. She's been on a bit of a nursing strike lately and pumping is difficult. Making me worried if I'll be able to keep her on breastmilk after I go back to work.

Sleep: her napping has been a ton better last couple days. Still not the "16-20" but better than the average 10-11 hrs she had been getting. Nighttime is decent. Not as good as some
Other ladies but manageable and much better than the first 2/3 weeks!

Post partum weight: not sure, haven't step on a scale. I know my tummy is waaay down! Tried to wear regular capris 2 weeks ago. Epic fail. I hope I don't have to go buy new pants!

Post partum milestones: got past the "30 day" woohoo!!! Went to eat at a restaurant yesterday!!! With baby but she was so well behaved.

@MsMini: my LO has been gassy lately and I think it's starting to interrupt his daytime naps. Do you think it's food related (are you EBF?)? One mom I know told me she couldn't eat kale, broccoli or citrus because it upset their baby. I eat kale nearly every day and I wonder if that could cause it.

Also, our little guy didn't nap in bed during the day either until 6-7 weeks old, I started laying with him on my bed and nursing him to sleep. Now he doesn't even need to be nursed to sleep, I just lay him on our bed and give him his pacifier.

Age: Almost 9 weeks (she's 2 months old today!)

Weight: Will find out officially Monday, but I'm guessing around 14lbs. She was 10lbs7 at 2 1/2 weeks old.

Milestones: found her hand, sleeping through the night, smiles at everyone and not just mom and dad, "talks" like crazy, holds her head up during tummy time, can follow people and objects with her eyes, she can hold her weight on her feet for short periods of time

Challenges: Naps. We still have no consistent nap routine and she won't sleep in the crib for naps. Sometimes she'll take a 3 hour nap, sometimes she will only sleep for 20 minutes.

Sleep: Nighttime sleep is pretty good usually. She normally can sleep through from 7-7, most of the time with 1 feeding between 3:30-4:30. She has slept straight through once. Every once in a while we have a really rough night where she will wake up 2-3 times. She is fully settled into her crib at night and has been since 2 1/2 weeks. We are working on putting her down drowsy at night so she can learn to fall asleep without me holding her. We are also working on trying to soothe her back to sleep before giving her a bottle when she gets up so we only night feed if she's actually hungry.

Postpartum weight: doing pretty decent, i think. I've been losing a lot on my own without much effort, but I gained a lot. As of 2 weeks ago, I had 20lbs left to go but I have gotten back into my smaller jeans since then. I gained around 60lbs total.

Postpartum milestones: DH and I had some adult time for the first time. Wasn't near as bad as i expected. lol

Baby's age: 15 weeks this coming tuesday :)

Weight: I think around 15-16 pounds (I weighed myself then with him)

Milestones: laughing, bearing weight on feet when I stand him up, looking at hands/fists

Challenges: struggles with tummy time, screams/cries bloody murder 80% of the time in the carseat

Sleep: not too bad... Has a pretty consistent nap schedule (3-4x/day). At night still wakes 1-2x to nurse. Every 2 weeks he will surprise us by sleeping 7-9 straight hours! It's glorious!!

Postpartum weight: gained about 35-37 pounds when pregnant now have 17 pounds to go...and they don't really budge...

Postpartum milestones: just started jillian michaels 30 day shred.. We will see how long I last...because summer is pretty much here, it motivates me to slim down :)

Baby's age: 5 1/2 weeks

Weight: About 10 pounds (will find out for sure Monday at our check-up)

Milestones: Has started to give the social smile (but just to Mommy and Daddy), and has started vocalizing at us.

Challenges: Really gassy despite being breastfeed exclusively. Leads to lots of episodes of fussiness.

Sleep: Refuses to nap by himself, sleeps well in his cradle at night, but needs to be cuddled during the day. Sleeps for 3 X 3-4 hour stretches at night.

Postpartum weight: Down 15 pounds from pre-pregnancy (due to very low pregnancy weight gain), not the happiest with my shape though.

Postpartum milestones: I got released from all my c-section restrictions this past week! It feels so good to be out and about with Sawyer now! Just starting to get back into long walks and such, I had restricted activity for 6 weeks prior to delivery due to complications, so I have a long way to go to get back from 3 months of relative inactivity.

@skibobrown: my friend was having the same problem with her little guy not wanting to shut his eyes during the day. They started draping a blanket over his face/their shoulder while they rocked him to block his view and minimize stimulation. It totally worked to help shut him down for a nap.

Baby's age: will be 12 weeks on Tuesday

Weight: between 14 and 15 lbs

Milestones: he's super talkative! And laughing and smiling a ton. Starting to push up on his chest when on his belly.

Challenges: keeping him entertained, working on elongating nighttime sleeps (like so many others! I feel better already about his sleeping knowing that we're not alone), learning how to wrangle a super wiggly baby. Also, he hates riding in the car unless he's already asleep.

Sleep: getting better! We usually get a 3-4 hour chunk, a 4-5 hour chunk, and then another 3-4 hour chunk. He doesn't nap well during the day, but we're trying to make the naps stick so that he's not furiously overtired by dinner time.

Postpartum weight: about 5-7 lbs above pre-pregnancy, but with nowhere near as much muscle. I miss being strong!!

Postpartum milestones: I took my boy to a movie all by myself about two weeks ago! I'm getting ether at dealing with his overtired hysterics (by trying harder to prevent them). Also, I came up with a lullaby for him that works every time to calm and soothe.

Baby's age: 9 weeks

Weight: Last week she weighed 10 lbs 6.5 oz. That's up from 6 lbs 8 oz at birth, so not bad at all!

Milestones: She's smiling and cooing these days. She also has discovered her hands in the last few days for the purpose of shoving them in her mouth. I really don't want her to be a thumb sucker, so I'm a little bummed out that she seems to like her hands better than her binky.

Challenges: Daytime sleep. She's a pretty great nighttime sleeper, but she's an absolutely terrible napper. She doesn't want to miss anything during the day, so it's really hard to convince her to shut her eyes and go to sleep. She rarely naps for more than 30 mins at a time, and she ends up totally overtired by the end of the day.

Postpartum weight: Don't hate me, but I'm already back at my pre-pregnancy weight. The reason for this is not good though... I was diagnosed w/ a severe case of postpartum depression, and one of my symptoms was that I basically didn't eat much of anything for 6 weeks straight. Now I'm doing much better, and I'm back to eating full healthy meals. My belly is still definitely floppy though. I need to get back to working on my abs!

Postpartum milestones: I'm doing much better w/ my postpartum depression, and I'll be getting discharged from my treatment program soon. I guess this means that I'm now officially fit to be a mommy!

Baby's age: 6.5 weeks

Weight: He was born at 6lbs, 9 oz, and at a 5 week doctors appt, he was already at 9 lbs, 12 oz. So I'm guessing he's over 10 lbs now. He eats constantly. He would pretty much graze all day.

Milestones: We've gotten a few smiles already and he's doing extremely well with head control.

Challenges: Like everyone else, sleep is rough. This kid fights every bit of sleep. The worst is trying to get him down at night. It's often a 4 hour process and we all don't get down until midnight.

Postpartum weight: I had such bad edema during the last month of my pregnancy and ended up gaining 40 lbs. I lost 30 of the very first week after delivery. Unfortunately, the last 10 is stuck. Maybe from breastfeeding. Worse yet, I had put on 15 lbs when I came off BC, so I really need to lose 25 all together. Blah.

My core is also completely shot to hell. I have a lot of work to do.

Postpartum milestones: I'm not crying every day finally! And I'm starting to feel much more confident in my mommy abilities. :)

I love update threads!

Baby's age: 12 weeks today

Weight: hovering close to 10lbs, she was up to 9lbs1oz at her 2 month appt

Milestones: she smiles a ton now which is awesome. She is also getting great head and neck strength, she can sit up in her bumbo now, and we put her in her high chair for the first time last week.

Challenges: fussing! She gets so fussy and sometimes it just makes me crazy trying to figure out what she wants. We think we've narrowed it down to being overtired so I'm trying to track her naps and see if we can't normalize it a little.

Sleep: is really hard. We're trying to initiate a nighttime routine and transition her to her crib, one day at a time.

Postpartum weight: I've been at my pre-pregnancy weight since 3 weeks pp, but my shape is totally different.

Postpartum milestones: started couch to 5k program, hoping it works.

Baby's age: 14 weeks today!

Weight: he hasn't been weighed for about a month but I am guessing 15+ lbs. he is a chunker!

Baby's Milestones: he has rolled over from his tummy to his back 3 times but they could have been flukes because most of the time he doesn't do much during tummy time! He also devours his hands and giggles all the time :).

Challenges: like pp, SLEEP! He caught the short nap bug at a very early age and while we can extend 1-3 naps per day, he still needs our help. Night sleep is inconsistent but not bad. He also just lies flat when on his back and chews his hands...do something buddy!

Sleep: we would love night sleep to just be consistent. He nurses twice over 12-13 hours overnight whether it's 8 hours then 3 then 1 more hour or 5/5/2 or 7/3/2...

Postpartum Weight: we don't own a scale so I don't know. I think I am at my pre-pg weight but I am nowhere near as fit, strong or healthy.

Postpartum Milestones: not sure...I guess when I worked out last week (Crossfit for those that have heard of it), I did real pull-ups for the first time since giving birth!

Great idea!

Baby's Age: 8 weeks today

Weight: I'm guessing around 10 lbs. We haven't had an official weigh in since her first check-up at 2 weeks

Baby's Milestones: she's starting to become more aware of her surroundings, and smiles at us now! I love it! She's also started doing a little bit of "talking"

Challenges: I agree with sleep. She's still pretty inconsistent about the amount of time she sleeps at night, but it has gotten better since we started doing a morning and bedtime routine. And naps are a battle. Ugh.

Sleep: lol see above :)

Post-Partum Weight: not where I want to be, but I'm trying to be patient. I'm having a hard time losing the last of the weight no matter what I do.

Post-partum Milestones: Not exactly a happy milestone, but I go back to work Monday. :( I feel pretty much back to my old self, just a little less rested.

I thought this would be fun - I know a lot of us have had baby's recently, and some have older ones as well.

Baby's Age: 14 weeks

Weight: I think around 12 lbs. He was 11 lbs 12 oz at his 2.5 month checkup

Baby's Milestones: He has discovered his hands and finds them fascinating! More often than not his whole fist is in his mouth. But he also loves playing with and watching his hands. It's pretty cute!
He is very vocal too, in addition to coo's and ga's he also squeals when he's really excited!!
He hates tummy time, so we're having a hard time with that. I know some babies start rolling over about now, but it might take a little longer for him since he cries hysterically lol

Challenges: SLEEP!! He will ONLY sleep on our bed, with or without us. Daytime naps are great, as long as he's on our bed. Nights are trickier. I know some baby can sleep 8 even 10 hour stretches by now and he's only ever done ONE six hour stretch, and normally he only lasts about 4 hours for the first part of the night (the part I'm awake for, so I never get 4 consecutive hours), and lately it's been every two hours after that. So last night was 8pm-11:30pm, then 2 am, 4 am, 6am, 7am and then awake at 8. This mama is EXHAUSTED! We're getting his crib next week and will work to "sleep-train" him.

Sleep: lol see above :)

Post-Partum Weight: Not as good as I had hoped but I'm coping with it. I had gained about 38 lbs and I've lost 19 lbs. so I still have 19 lbs to lose and it's not budging. I started working out RIGHT at 6 weeks, and go 2-4x a week doing a combination of pilates, cardio, running and weights, but haven't lost a lb since 6 weeks. It's been hard but i'm trying to give myself time.

Post-partum Milestones: Well I can do a full workout routine, it was rough getting back into the gym! Discouraging when I could do a full 45-60 min of cardio and only 1 mile on the treadmill. But it's getting better!
Otherwise I'm pretty much back to normal! Tho, I do get the occasional hemorrhoid still (TMI!) which hurts but not as bad as the first month!
