@septemberlove: if he's been nursing on and off that much, he may just have had an overfull belly! This happened once after an LC apt where LO just had too much to drink!! Hope he's feeling better.

@Kemma: that sounds really possible! Poor little man got SO mad when they did ear mold impressions :( he screamed for a solid 4-5 minutes. I couldn't nurse him while they were doing the impressions and they take a few minutes to solidify.

It could've been a trapped bubble of wind, particularly if your LO seemed relieved after throwing up! Miss A did this a few times when she was newborn and mainly managed to drench her Father :-)

@BabyBoecksMom: he's been totally fine the rest of the day. He woke up and nursed a little, then wanted to play! I just talked to him in his rnp and wiggled his toes, I was afraid anything more strenuous would potentially upset his tummy again. But he just smiled and babbled and grabbed my hands. He hasn't gotten sick again and had 4 wet diapers. I think we're in the clear! :) thanks for helping me out! I was pretty worried!

@NovBaby1112: no, he's been with both of us. He had an audiology appointment yesterday, which always puts him in a bad mood. He had another ABR (so think newborn screening but 1.5 hours of it) plus some additional testing and ear mold impressions done. So he was extremely overtired and cranky after that yesterday and having a hard time going to sleep last night. He's definitely been extra fussy, but he generally is pretty unhappy after audiology appointments. :(

Was he alone with your husband at all yesterday/last night? Does he seem unusually fussy?

@BabyBoecksMom: the first seemed like just spit up, there wasn't much, just enough that I felt like I should wipe his face. I should probably still count that though. I hope it's not a stomach bug :( he nursed for about 5 minutes, popped off, snoozed, then nursed for another 3 minutes, popped off and is snoozing now. I'll make sure I check his diaper in 3 hours. I hope he holds down those two little nursing sessions.

@septemberlove: so he did it two times now? It sounds like he might have a stomach bug (which you have to be careful not to catch!) The main thing you worry about is dehydration, and the signs are decreased or no saliva, no net diaper in 3 hours and/or no tears. If he acts hungry, try to only give small amounts at a time, since breastmilk is hard on the tummy when his tummy is upset, and wait 20 or so min between each session.

@BabyBoecksMom: he spat up once, enough that I got up to wipe his face (and went ahead and changed his diaper since it was soaked) and then shortly thereafter he threw up but *knock on wood* nothing since (its been about 25 minutes)

I would wait and see. The pediatrician will likely tell you to take him in of he's thrown up several times in a short time period. If it was just once and he doesn't have a fever, he should be ok.

LO has been up all night fussing and I'd been nursing him when he fussed, which got him to calm down and drift off to sleep. Well, he just threw up on me. A lot of vomit. I had just change his diaper and was carrying him to the other room and he threw up enough that it went all down my shirt, my legs, down my back (I had him on my shoulder) and onto the floor.

He doesn't have a fever and isn't lethargic. He nursed for about 5 minutes after I got us cleaned up and is laying next to me (he dozed off in the football hold on the boppy) smiling in his sleep. He occasionally opens his eyes, smiles, then closes them again. He seems fine but it was ALOT of vomit, way more than just spitting up.

Should I be worried? Should I call his ped?
