@SweetiePie: I’m hoping this passes quick! I feel better that we have the liners! So I won’t be responding every 1 hour tonight because he’s stuck :/. He was doing so well... 10-12 hours a night! Now this! But I’m going to ride it out! Thanks so much!

@gingerbebe: @cake2017: same. Every time they learn a new skill there’s a sleep disruption. Rolling, sitting, crawling, pulling up to stand. Just have to ride it out and usually allow for some CIO. You know why they’re doing it and usually after a couple days, maybe a week max, they are used to it and the excitement wears off. So for a few nights you don’t want to mess with too much (introduce new sleep crutches, etc).

Also, same with the mesh bumpers. Love. They also keep all the pacis in the crib! 🙌🏼

Okay that’s what I was thinking. We lowered the crib one level down for now and added the mesh liners. Thanks so much everyone. Hope this helps! 😆

@cake2017: yep we got mesh bumpers, lowered the crib all the way, and CIO. There’s nothing wrong with them and there’s no way to get them to stop so I let them be.

@gingerbebe: Did you just let them cio when they would sit up crying? I’ve been up all night. Going to get the mesh liner today. He’s attempting to pull himself up so we will lower the crib too. I don’t know what to do because he’s not sleeping and he wants too! Me too 😓

@Becky: Did it stop after he learned to crawl? Did you lower your crib when he was grabbing on it?

@raspberries: Yes! He’s sleep trained. Doing well! Now this haha. also i’ll just suck it up and be cranky with lack of sleep! I’m hoping it passes quickly! It’s rewarding to see it all happen though so I’ll hold on to that :) Thank you!

@gingerbebe: I completely forgot about those mesh things. That made a huge difference for us with DD2. She’d bump her head on the slats while wiggling around and the mesh bumper softened that so she wouldn’t wake up.

Yup, it happens. They want to crawl or pull up or whatever. We rode it out. We also got those mesh bumpers on the crib slats so they don't get their legs stuck and stuck them in sleep sacks.

@cake2017: I'm not sure where you stand on sleep training, but we basically just stuck with what had worked the first time (just making sure we had a really solid nap/bedtime routine so there was no question that it was time for sleeping, followed by CIO with checks that grew more and more spaced out.) We had another brief period of reinforcing good sleep habits around 9.5 months when he learned to pull himself up in the crib, but couldn't get down very easily.

There is just so much going on around 8/9 months development-wise - physically, mentally, emotionally, etc!

One other possibility is the 9 month sleep regression - it hit early for both of my kids at right around 8 months, so that might factor into it too!

@maddyz: Yes he’s doing exactly that. He crawls backwards on the floor and now in the crib. He’s getting his foot stuck at night so i have to get up to help him. Nap today was bad. Down for 10 mins and up in the position. I don’t want him to get overtired so I just drove around and he’s asleep. I plan to stick to our routine until this passes but I just don’t want him to get so tired especially during the day with naps.

Hoping this passes quickly! Thanks for posting!

Both of my kids had a week or so of "practice" crawling where they would be half awake and rocking back and forth in a crawling position. LO2 would do this for a very long time at night before either getting upset or going back to sleep. It kinda freaked me out, but the phase passed quickly.

Hi,

LO has been sleeping well. Hes going to be 8 months this month. Now he is waking up quick from naps and night time sleep. Normal? How long? He’s up in the crib in his crawling stance :) .
He’s on the floor all day and getting a lot of play time so I am comfortable with that.

Any tips or we just ride this one out???!!???

TIA
